Seems like a lot of one dragon school is for girl only, do you have any suggestion which school a boy should go for if it is in HK island?

Thx a lot! in fact, we only applied St Paul's Church and Ling Liang and planned to try try SKH (although the competition is extremely keen).

Frankly, I prefer St Paul's Church more gae and hope my boy can change to AM there, say in K2.

I am sorry but my knowledge on boys DSS is really limited particularly concerning TT or Alliance is better for Ying Wa or DBS.

Hi Jacobbaby2,

Yau Tin is a gov't aided school so the relevancy of which kindergarten is better is quite low.  I think you can just freely choose one which provide an environment which you prefer more and wait for allocation result.

Hi kinyee125,

Where do you live?  If you live near HKPS(Ascot) then I may suggest you to consider it first and monitor the progress before you decide whether re-applying K1 is necessary next year.  In general, I would prefer SC over HKPS (Kowloon Tong) but I have heard some good comments of HKPS (Ascot ) campus.

I do feel KV is a better option for traditional primary school but if your son is really mature then no need to waste that one year too soon.

Hi Witata,

I have been asked million time about this but there are really no one-dragon options for boys in HK island (may be wait until I start one few years later )

Anyway, my usual suggestion is SKH or St. Paul's Church for boys in HK island.  Some people would say St. Joseph's is one-dragon but their primary section is gov't aided so although the kindergarten may have some advantages, but not guaranteed.

Then go for St. Paul's Church first and wait for results of SKH after interview.  You know what you want already. ;)

Hi HeiJanice,

haha, so many neighbours catching me here in bk.  Yes this is a very nice place for children to grow up so after long discussions and thinking my wife and I have decided to stay here for a few more years until we re-consider moving back to HK island again.

By the way, no I didn't apply for St. Paul's Church since mine are both girls.  But the elder one is now studying in a kindergarten very close to St. Paul's Church.  I drove by it every time I pick her up from school.

There are plenty of time so no need to worry about it.  I am sure there will be nanny bus that can be arranged.

Both my daughters would play in the garden from time to time so I guess you may have seen her.

My little girl is 0712 small B and she got the offer from Stafford (Kowloon Tong) and Mansung. I like Stafford quite a lot as it is a small and caring school with close bonding between kids, teachers and parents. Stafford kids can speak fluent English as 2/3 of the teaching time is delivered by NET, not to mentioned Stafford kids are reported to be smart and have good presentation skills. The draw backs are I will have to go through another round of competitive primary school interviews which gives me a headache. For Mansung, I don't know this school too well, only known it is famous of its one dragon path and the kids there have good discipline. Mansung drawbacks are its primary is a Chinese school with lots of exams and homeworks. Grateful for advice on how to choose please.

Hi frogma,

Based on the information as you supplied, I believe you like Stafford better so I think you should go for it.  Mansung doesn't guarantee all the students will be admitted to the primary section so there is still a chance that you need to worry while giving up the environment which you prefer for your little girl.  I believe under the training from Stafford, she will still be well equipped for P1 interviews for the right schools.

I have an question need your help.

Currently, my son has two offers - TT & MS.  And he will go for the interviews of Pui Ching and KRS in the coming weeks.
Initially, my preference is 1. PC ; 2. KRS ; 3. TT ; 4. MS.  

Assuming PC & KRS do not offer any seat for my son, we shall go for TT.  

However, TT's Primary school is located in Sham Shui Po area ; while MS's PS is located in Kowloon city area.   I just realise that Primary School's location determines the choices of secondary schools.

To conclude, I like TT itself but I like MS's location for secodary school ballot in the future.

what do u think?  TT or MS.....  thanks a lot

Hi Mommy-Maggie,

I think it is better to wait for PC and KRS results before you make the decision.  Frankly, although the primary school location will determine which district the secondary selection will be.  But if your child is academically strong enough, they won't be limited to the same district just like the draw for primary school so I don't think it is a must to consider that too soon now.
