屋企營造英語環境當然好, 不過學校培訓亦好重要, 小朋友係學校時間多過屋企, 如果學校本身英語環境好好, 同學之間都可以以英語溝通, 咁會更加事半功倍.

現時坊間有些直資英小係可以提供到咁既英語環境.

yes..start simple English first..and sooner or later, they will be more confortable to this language..and dare to make mistake.

My experience is:
1. Disneyland Chanel in now TV only Cartoon.
2. DVD movies like "Sound of Music" even "Mama Mia".
3. Maid (speaking English only).
4. English News (Pearl Channel).
5. All English reading books in the living room. (Open Book Shelf, easy to get.)

Yes, disney channel. If my boy wants to watch his favorite program, he can only choose between English and Mandarin. He chooses English most of the time

thanks a lot for your sharing.  I think creating an English environment is important yet difficult.  

We may have books or DVDs, all are one way communication means.  Relying too much on my Cantonese English or maid's Philipinnes English did not improve my kid's accent neither.  

As we are not native speaker, we have no choice but to send them to English classes.  

The scenario is like sending children to drawing class.  We can draw but we are not 'expert' in this field.

不要因為自己的口音 / 菲律賓人口音而認為小朋友不該學。敢問什麼口音是最標準? 只得英國人嗎? 還是美國? 澳洲? 意大利? 歐洲?
現在只要環境給他們說英語就好了...不要打壓他們說得不好聽 / 有口音。當長大後, 他發覺不同國家的人有不同的口音, 自己喜愛那種, 便自然往哪邊調。

我們也是只看英文的playhouse disney及chinese news. 兩兄妹都可以拼音讀新英文字, 有時兩個自己玩都只用英文。當然, 英文reading亦都非常重要啦。

Agree!

(1) "Sound of Music" is really great.  My daughter loves it!  She watched the second disc.  The first one was broken.

(2) Disney Chanel is good but I strongly suggest "CBeeBies" by BBC.  447 in NowTV.

(3) Story Time - let the child choose the favourite book each time

開始係無需要太著緊grammar, 最緊要培養小朋友敢講, 敢寫, 同埋唔抗拒用英文, 等小朋友慢慢長大就會調節內容.

口音真的不用太care!!!  以前讀u, 個教授話無論你口音點純正都好, 都會有人話你唔準.  因為口音係跟當地文化&種族, 你係英國鬼, 美國鬼會話你唔準; 你係美國鬼, 加拿大鬼會話你唔準;  你係加拿大鬼會, 澳洲鬼會話你唔準.  

教授話最好的英文係無論你點講對方都可以聽得明&理解到, 自己識d深字但對方唔明, 唔係人地差, 係自己唔懂得用更合適字眼去表達

My experience is:
1. English Time when kid was 2 - 4/5
2. Open Book Shelf in the living room
3. Go to Public Library every week
    ( stay at least 2 hours)

4. Borrow books from library with
    English/Chinese words +   
    English/Mandarin CD
** you may have the latest books,
   but cannot have so many books that
   be founded in library

5.  Kumon English when kid over 4/5.

屋企沒有英語環境, 睇怕都好難令小朋友學好英文.
有冇父母唔識英文或者英文唔叻, 子女英文都學得幾好架?

有, 我朋友屋企住屋村, 父母係街市賣菜, 一d都唔識英文, 中文都唔識幾多, 但佢宜家係一位律師, 英文十分之好.

當然個人既性格都係一個關鍵, 不過我覺得唔好因為父母自己唔識英文就扼殺左小朋友學英文既機會, 入到一間好既英文小學, 佢地一樣係有機會學得好英文.

我姪仔,父母小学畢業,盲字都唔識多個,英文就更加唔掂,英語環境?無可能有,又無人教到佢,但個仔讀書就very good, 英文會考全A,A-Level又全A,現在是一位醫生了,仲讀埋專科,我覺得小朋友讀書好睇個人性格的,環境只是一個附助。
