報考幾多間幼稚園?

各位有經驗既媽媽, 可否分享一下要為小朋友報幾多間幼稚園, 而'命中率'又大約係點?

我諗住報5-6間九龍塘區既, 但相信競爭都大, 洗唔洗加多d保險d?

Applied for 8 in total and I separated them to 3 groups:

(1) Interview between October 2008 to December 2008
3 for preparation and rehearsal, also less competitive and quick notice so there are early backup.  Also, at least one Kowloon Tong kinder, and one with one dragon to private primary school (Pooi To(accepted), York(accepted), and True Light(wait-listed, since Pooi To is first choice in this category))

(2) Interview between November 2008 and February 2009
3 kindergartens which are famous and competitive.  Also, these are target schools that you like.  Same strategy, one Kowloon Tong and one with one-dragon to private primary (Kentville(accepted), Pui Ching(accepted), and Heep Yunn(not known, but won't consider))

(3) Interviews in January 2009
2 kindergartens which like the most, dream school type.  These should be very competitive and have one-dragon to private primary, and also very famous.  (Sacred Heart(accepted) and St. Paul's kindergarten(not known, probably won't consider))

The basic strategy is about two-third kindergartens with private primary school for guarantee, another one-third are Kowloon Tong kindergartens in case the children are more suitable for these type of education.

The strategy provides many flexibility if in case you understand more about your children in the process of the interviews.  For example, my daughter was able to express her interests in Sacred Heart after the interview and we can review whether this is suitable for her.

The best time sequence is the first category will have interviews first and result announced before interviews for second category started.  Finally, going to interviews for the third category with at least one target school accepted in second category.

3 out of them has Primary and secondary.
Mainly in Kowloon side (KLT, HMT)

只係2間心儀school交留位費.

我就因為阿仔而家讀開的N1(Think) 都幾好, K1都係想試下報下KLT的名一D的K1,  希望第時考直資小學多D機會, 所以只報左2間 (SC, HKPS), 心想考唔到都冇咩所謂, 留在原校上K1 亦OK.

我自己覺得SC收人都唔少, 我同我屋苑的父母們談天, 差唔多有報的都有收, 大部份都會選佢. 反而HKPS 因太少位, 所以唔多覺有人收, 所以九龍塘的都間間唔同, SC, KV 收多D學生, 有N1的如Keenmind, HKPS 就真係好難.

另外培正個D因為只是小朋友自己 in, 我覺得好難預計小朋友的表現, 所以都幾難.

We applied 6 kinders:

5 Accepted (THINK-Laguna, KV, St. Cat, St. Rose, Sacred Heart)

1 kinder (St. Paul's) result not yet known

Ian, we did not purposely plan the timing for the interviews, but as you said, at least we would have a backup in THINK, as this is her existing nursery school (still need to interview for K1) and we're pretty satisfy with their teaching mode and appreciate the love and caring of the teachers and the principal.

After that, we secured places in Kln Tong schools and lastly in the phase 3, we got accepted by our dream school (SH).  It turns out just coincidently match with you strategies.

Hi Ursula,

In my case, the whole strategy was to built around KV as our target school in the very beginning.    Similarly, I planned some kindergartens like York which usually have a high acceptance rate as backup first.

My matrix should have 9 kindergartens originally.  However, as I read the admission information on St. Stephen Girls', I decided to give up since they refer to the points system from the primary lottery system for admission.

Phase III is bonus and mainly to save the efforts 3 years later.  I really like the way KV teachers can teach the children with self-discipline and I believe this is very very important to children.

Concerning the timing, I must admit the kindergartens helped me since SHCK and SPK have interviews two months after KV so we can feel secure with a school we want first.  Anything else, would be a bonus.  And luckily, your daughter and mine can go to the same school!  Too bad I didn't apply for AM session so they can be classmates but it would be too hard to get my daughter out-of bed so early!  Guess can only deal with it one at a time!

2 歲個 d 叫幼兒園, 我囡係 2006 / 9 月
出世既 !  我係去年 2008 2 月度幫佢
搵左近近地既花園大x 浸信會番 n 1 !

而家都番左 5 個月啦, 呢間學校唔錯
細係細 d , 不過 miss 幾有愛心 !!
