有了解明慧&康怡中英文學校的媽咪嗎﹖

六月的故事

昨天收到明慧的錄取信﹐Int'l Session Morning Class。這個週末就要回復了。康怡還沒面試﹐也是這個週末interview。

不知這兩家學校哪家好一點。

康怡離家裡近一點﹐2歲班是英文為主。不過明慧好象也是英文為主﹐有一個中文老師好象只是幫助小朋友一下﹐並非上課啊。

沒有人知道這兩家的嗎﹖不知哪家比較出名一點啊。

我囝當年都有報呢兩間, 最後同佢揀咗康怡。因為明慧in時個副校比較hardsell (我本來報local班, 但佢就不停hardsell我哋國際班), in完後, 佢哋仲即時confirm收咗, 仲同我哋講可以立即交留位費); 相反, in康怡時就只係有老師同小朋友玩, 另外有老師同家長傾計, 最後就係副校做conclusion。

此外, 康怡係雙班主任, 其中一班主任一定係外籍老師, 而另外一個就通常係abc或cbc等; 所以我同老公都覺得康怡嘅老師質數比較有保證。

anyway, 康怡係"先到先得"概念嘅, 即係你愈早報讀, 就可以有上晝班位, 上晝班收滿後就收下晝班。

明慧都收左我個B, 都係上午班, 我都唔知好唔好, 但我老公都話望落好商業化, 但我就幾鍾意它的校舍夠大, 乾淨同面試時有國語同英文人一齊見, 相比起見CANNAN時只有姐姐用廣東話同父母傾計及聲稱有國語同英文班教學就有說服力多了.

其實我都想知上午班定下午班好D呢??

請問什麼時候可以知道康怡interview的結果呢﹖是不是一般情況都會收﹖還是interview pass後你要早點報名﹖
明慧好象也是有個外籍老師的是不是﹖

我都覺得明慧有點商業化。不過我都打算只讓BB念一年到兩年之後想讓她轉victoria或者international school﹐不知這兩家的chance哪家比較大。

I visited both schools and I think the main difference are:
1) Kornhill has NO Mandarin class at N1, it's purely English
2) Kornhill K1-K3 are all AM class, starting from K2, it's compulsory to let the kids eat lunch at school and leave at 2pm

I personally feel that Kornhill is less commercial.  Regarding which schools the majority of their graduates go to, it seems that most of them eventually go to international schools and only a few of them go to local traditional schools.

Similar case, but Ming Wai takes my son in pm class.  Also, waiting to have interview with Kornhill Intl this sat.

In term of envir, Kornhill seems better, however, Ming Wai will have mandarin class starting fm N1.  Don't know whether to pay deposit to Ming Wai this sat or not?  Any comments?

I'm going to decide after kornhill interview this sat. one thing that I'm confused is  for N1 class, Ming Wai said they only going to have an assitant teacher that speaks Can/Put. No mandarin class will be held until K1. If it's true, then it's very similar as Kornhill.

I checked with MW again.  U are right.  They only have an assitant teacher that speaks Can/Put.  Mandarin class only 15min - twice a week.  Only start fm K1, will be 50/50 Eng & Put.  So really is much the same as Kornhill, as Kornhill also has Put. in K1.

U have the interview today?  How's is it and which one u prefer?

我記得當年係立刻已知甚至上下晝班結果, 佢哋係base on你報名嘅先後次序去順編上下晝嘅。

另外, 如果你將來想你小朋友讀is, 我相信kornhill係個非常不錯嘅選擇。

我囝喺kornhill讀得十分開心, 但因我同老公要為佢將來鋪路local stream, 所以k1轉校了。但至現時, 我囝亦會問我"i miss ms holly; where is ms becky??"等 (holly n becky were his class teachers)

我地星期六都去左Kornhill interview， 無論係環境同老師，比我既感覺非常好，唯一係我諗住繼續讀local stream既primary school, 唔知可唔可以銜接得到...但當日interview既老師話佢地既curriculum係based on local stream, 銜接係無問題...除左呢個issue, 我都好鐘意呢間學校。

2個星期就會有通知入唔入到...

The interview went okay. But the results will come back 2 weeks later. My husband and I really liked the teacher who interviewed my daughter. She was very patient and nice. and the environment.
But we still paid the deposit to MW since I can't be 100% sure that Kornhill will accept her.
Also I have applied Victoria and KCS, MW/Kornhill is my back up choice. if my daughter can't get into Victoria nor KCS, I think MW is at least a school that can stay for K1-K3. But for Kornhill k1-k3, I think the mandarin part is not enough.

Thanks for your reply. I have to agree with you. Kornhill seems really a nice school. Nice teachers, quite environment. But as I am a Mandarin based backgroud, I think the Mandarin part is not enough for my daughter.
