CAC = Children Assessment Centre.  It is government provided service.  There is usually a long queue but it is still worth while to wait in the queue as the fees are very low.  You may ask your doctor to give you a referral letter to CAC to start the queuing process.  Depending on the districts, one may have to wait for up to half a year before real assessment conducted by specialist doctors, and then further time for special training.

While waiting in the queue, I would suggest you to contract private services, e.g. Heep Hong, in order to provide help and training to your child as soon as possible.  You may stop this private training once you get a place in the government services.

For your info., Matilda Child Development Centre also provides assessment services.  You have to be prepared for the high fees though.

Last month I bring my son to Depatment of Health Centre for Dr assessment, I say to Dr , he can't speak anything just some BB sound and less eye contact , and when you call his name he always no response, when he like will look at you ,but the Dr think this is not a problem. And just suggest me more talking to him and then bring him for assessment  3 months later.  So, I bring him to HEEP HONG for assess, where staff said will arrange the training to him I still wait for them inform me.  I don't know how about the training ??????? And should I go to the Department of Health to see again or see a Private Doctor to get the referal letter.
And I want to know if I want to quene up the  Government  line for traing, HEEP HONG will help me or not?

Was the assessment at the gov't health centre the routine 2-yr check up?  I guess so because one usually needs to wait for the assessment at the CAC.  Usually a nurse will meet with you and your child in the first visit to collect information, observe the child.  Then they will have internal meetings to discuss the case and see which kind of doctors should do the assessment, after which they will decide what kind of training is required.  Of course waiting time is long because of the high demand for their service.

It is quite strange that the staff at Heep Hong said they would arrange training for your son without first arranging for an assessment with him.  I remember, but am not sure, that Heep Hong will not provide services to those who already enjoy the government services.  However, it doesn't matter if you are just queuing up.  

I am no medical staff and I can't say what kind of training is needed.  From what you describe, he is late in talking and has weaker social skills than other kids of same age.  But in any case, do follow what the doctor said, talk to your son more.  2-way interaction is very important in learning everything, speech and social skills also. If you are full time mum, really spend lots of time with him.  Be a reporter and describe to him what he is doing or what you are doing.  e.g. You are wearing red pants.  You are drinking water.  Look at this lovely yellow bird. Mama is cleaning your nose with a piece of tissue.  We are wearing shoes to go down to the park.  If you are working mum, ask the care taker to do so.  Reduce TV time.  Increase play time (don't let him play alone, play with him), reading time.  Encourage him playing with other kids in the park.  Enroll him in playgroup or nursery.  All these are generally good for all children, not only children with special needs.

Agree with justjust that 2-way interaction should be used to improve language development.  Children nowadays watch TV too much!

Actually both Heep Hong and Government, you have to wait.  You can queue up for both, as I know, the government queue can be as long as one year now!

Joanna:  I know that if you have services from government, heep hong will not provide any more to you.  For your case, you bette check is the heep hong services charges for several hundred dollars for a session, because heep hong has provided private services.  If you willing to pay money, heep hong will provide training no matter you have services in gov or not.  But it also needed to wait.
