My boy has lazy eye since he was borned.  The government health centre referred him to the specialist at public hospital.  We go there for regular check-up.  On the other hand, we consulted several ophthalmologists in different stages.  Once we knew that he had the eye problem, our family doctor referred one to us.  After the consulation, the specialist explained the symdrome to us and we can consider to have a small operation later.  In between, we were suggested to have the follow up in public hospital.  When my boy was 1 1/2 years old, the specialist of public hospital advised us to have an operation.  Then I consulted 2 more private specialist.  One said it's time to do it but the other said we could do it when my boy is 4-5 years old for better appearance.   Finally, we follow the suggestion of the later one.  I think it's better to get the advise from at least 2 doctors.  You can ask your family doctor for referral or ask your friend for the famous one.
