I just prefer the approach in international schools.
My son was raised in London and went to a Montessori kindy. Although he adapted well to his local kindy (it's a famous happy school and most people think their curriculum is way too easy). The approach at local kindy is still very different from my expectations (I'm a Montessori teacher myself). I, like many parents, wanted to let my son try local system first and change to international or overseas as they get older. By chance, my son was accepted in this IS, and with a younger one to follow, I just didn't want the anxiety most people go through at P1 interview. Therefore I finally gave up and picked the IS route.
Thinking back now, maybe my son never really liked the local kindy much. For a long time after our arrival in HK, he told me many times he missed his old school in London. Now he's only a few weeks into his new IS but already he's told me he prefers new school over the kindy.
