The two schools are totally different. YW is a new DSS but adopts quite traditional pedagogy with tests, dictations and exams. Achievers need to compete for the minute score difference - as it happens in other 'good' schools. Parents, if they can't let go, should prepare their boys (and themselves) to drill and drill to up them from 95 to 100 as there are quite a number of boys in this score band. It's a ranking game after all. You'd better work really hard to get your kid to the top 10-15% if it is where you think your kid 'should be'.
Mostly CKY kids and parents seem to be more laid-back in terms of scores. They would know whether their kids meet the expectations broad-brush rather than fighting for a point or two. |
