My son took the assessment (for Year 9 entrance) by Academic Asia and the consultant suggested to us a list of  schools namely Tonbridge, Charterhouse, Abington, Uppingham, Shrewsbury, Brighton, King's School, etc that she thinks my son can try.
I found that the GCSE and A-Level results of Tonbridge is very impressive, those of Brighton are also very very good, a  close No. 2 to Tonbridge. Charterhouse seems having quite a distance to Tonbridge (for 2010 and 2011) and actually slightly lower results than my son's current school in HK.

Can any parent here share your comments on the above schools with me ?

And, if my son wants to get into Tonbridge/Brighton/Charterhouse in Year 12 (sixth form) instead of Year 9, how much harder is it ? how much slimmer is the chance ? What's the 'minimum requirement' of GCSE results to get int these schools in Year 12?

Thanks in advance.

Please refer to Tonbridge School admission page. For year 9, there is about 140 boys for admission, and 20 boys in year 12. If your son is applying year 9, it is a bit late because you have to apply two years before the year of admission (except for exceptionally talented boys). Academic agent is tha only agent for Tonbridge School in Hong Kong. Usually Tonbridge School will take a few students for year 12 depending on their academic level.
Seriously it took me a year of consideration, test and observation for academic performance before my son applied this school. He got conditional offer to year 9 after school visit and test in UK. Tonbridge school is highly selective and demanding for gifted and talented boys,. That is why it has 20-30% admission rate to Oxbridge.

Thank you of your info.
I did run through all the details in their brochure.

So you mean your son will enter Tonbridge for Year 9? This year or next year? When did you apply? AA in fact offered my son to do an interview with the above-mentioned schools in Sept first, then will take the entrance exam in Oct/Nov (I forgot). They did not say it's late, seems this is just the normal application procedure.

My son will probably be admitted for year 9 in 2014 if he passes the entrance examination in 2014 (October) because he already got conditional offer. You are in the right way of application to the school through Academic Asia. What I mean late is that if youI follow the UK admission process.
If you follow AA to take entrance exam, your son's  entrance exam is expected to have very high marks for school admission. Mission still possible, good luck !
