On academic, GH is still better than True Light HK. (Check it out at www.maths1000.com) (NB: I think GH should be placed even higher, if GH can provide more information for ranking assessment. But, you may see that Chinese standard in GH is not appealing and True Light may be better.)
On history, GH is also longer (if not better) than True Light.

On social aspects, it is very difficult to compare. But I would say that GH students are well known of being diligent and observant. True Light is more out-going and caring.

On the level of difficulty to "win" the admission, I have no doubt to say GH is more difficult to get a seat if you are not GH kindergarten girls.

One more point to add, if you need to change to another schools for any reasons, it will be easier for GH students than True Light. GH students (especially those top 20) have a record to move to other even more famous schools.

On parents' burden, it is heavier for GH, which is famous for lots of homeworks.  

All in all, it's up to you to "design" for another 12 years to come.

As a GH's student's parents, I dont think GH got lots of homeworks actually. If kid could focus well while doing homeworks, I'm sure those homeworks can be done within an hour..

I would say GH's worksheets, step-by-step..lets say English Subject, only 1 worksheet per day, plus 1-2 pages exercise book and vocabs writing.  But teachers really provided a good way to teach students, I can tell from my daughter.  She is P2 student there.  And Maths, they use Chinese & English textbooks.  Kids there all can manage 2 languages at the same time.

True Light Primary is good too I would say.. I was graduated from HK side - True Light Middle School   so I think the location is important as well.

True Light's Chinese is good I have no double, as I came from there.

Hi Rabbit

First of all, thankyou very much for your sharing on GH and True Light. It is very good indeed, as you are parents of GH girls and alumnus of True Light.

I have 3 questions on GH as follows:
[1] Is it true to say that a girl has a very good chance to get into GH if she has a sister currently studying there? Some say a letter in the second round does help a lot even the younger sister cannot be accepted in the first stage. I guess that GH is very difficult to get into if girls are not from their kindergarten.

[2] I have no doubt on English standard of GH girls as they have really really top grades on HKCEE. But, do most of the GH girls dislike Chinese learning?

[3] What is the general inter-girl relationship? Is it very competitive?

By the way, I am glad to hear that your daughter can finish GH homeworks within an hour. You must be very good parents who know how to teach your kid discipline and efficiency. I am sure your daughter will be very successful in the future. I know many mothers have a problem to coach their girls to complete their GH homeworks before 10pm every school day.

I know some kids they accepted by GH and their sisters are also studying there.  But ofcos not 100% guarantee.  Anyway I believe the chance should be higher a bit.

hm...I wont say they dislike Chinese learning but I believe its very common in HK, kids dont like Chinese more than English being Chinese is much more complicated.

What i observed, kids there are all very friendly to each other. They share things even foods. Parents also share all info what they got from kids or school or outside.  Like HW list daily, they would share it everyday by email etc.

And i m glad to be one of the group truely.. like a big family, no one is selfish.  About the competitive, my daughter sometimes told me that her marks on dictation not good (94 in chinese, said next time she will do more harder), I guess still they will compare, but ranking......u never know abt it. Quite relax

Actually I m a working mom, everyday starts to work from 830am to 8pm.  Luckily my daughter she can do well the homework by herself.  And thats one of reason I like school cos they teach kids very well, at least well understanding what they learn from class. So most of homework, they can finish by themselves.
