We have the happy dilemma to get to choose between these two schools for 13+ in 2025. I would like to hear anyone’s view on these two schools although my son has his own preference after visiting the schools in January already.

Also I would like to know whether it is possible to prepare for the Common Entrance exam (for Eton) or Winchester entrance exam completely by ourselves in HK or it is preferable to move to a prep school for Y7 and Y8 to prepare for the exams in late Y8.

Yes if you’re in batch 2 (ie 2nd stage assessment in Feb/March) you should have received the result on Friday (5 May).

My friend’s son got the same choice too few years ago, mom preferred Eton but the boy chose Win. He is very happy now in Win. I think he has a sense of which school fits him better after the interviews and visiting the schools. I have friends with kids in both schools, their characters are quite different. You can pm me.

If your son plans to sit the KS or Election, definitely those U.K. feeder schools will provide better prep. The entrance exam  is mainly to determine what sets your son will go.  Even study in HK, he will be fine.
Batch 2 is batch 2.  Doesn’t mean a place is guaranteed.  The wait is dreadful.
One more thing, both KS and Election are purposely held on the same dates.  You can sit one only.  Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! It confirms how important is for the kid to make an informed decision and we as parents respect his decision.

Thank you. Yes, both Eton and Wincoll offers are conditional upon passing the entrance exams or the scholarship exams in Y8. Noted on the date of the KS and Election. We should have made the decision by then.. :)
