Hi all, I have a question regarding DBS.
1. Is DBS on the government "central allocation" scheme?  For example, if I live in the district, I can see if I can randomly be chosen to join?

2. After DBS Primary, is it a guarantee through train to DBS Secondary?  Or is that another separate process required?

Thanks!

Thanks eveyrone for your response.  So basically the only way to get into DBSPD is to apply through general admissions?

Is there any other way to get in?
Also, DBSPD guarantees admission to the DBS Secondary?

You can apply through General Admissions for Grade 1 or you can try to transfer between G2 to G6.

DBSPD does NOT guarantee admission to DBS secondary. There are basic requirements with G6 results. BUT the reality is that most (if not all) are admitted.

Ah so it's not 100% guarantee you will continue to DBS secondary.   How would they evaluate then?  In G6 they would look at your marks vs. external candidates?

I would assume DBS PD would have priority to get in?  For example if a DBS PD student in G6 got an "average" score.....  Does DBS secondary reject this person and accept someone external with a higher score?

Oh, they have enough places to take all of the G6 boys as well as another 90 or 100 outsiders. So it's not a case of not having enough seats or DBSPD boys competing with outsiders.

DBSPD boys will be accepted into DBS if they fulfil all the requirements for moving up. I don't remember exactly the criteria (as my son was promoted to DBS 4 years ago), but it was something like having to pass at least two of the three core subjects (english, chinese, maths) and having a respectable conduct score. So, really it is a place for the DBSPD student to lose.

I think you should think of it as two separate queues. All DBSPD students will have a chance to move up into DBS as long as they fulfil the basic requirements. All outside candidates fight each other for the other places.

Hope that is clear.

My boy is now at DBSPD.
DBSPD is a direct subsidy through chain school. G1 Admission is totally selective, through 2 rounds of interviews. It doesn’t matter where you live.

G2 to G6 transfer admission through submission of application with supporting documents. Selected candidates are invited for written test.

For DBSPD G6 students, they can promote to DBS G7 if they pass Chi, Eng and Maths, with satisfactory conduct. There are around 160 DBSPD Boys, but there are more than 200 DBS G7 places. Completion for remaining places for those applying from other primary school
