not a must, but i would recommend for better understanding when it comes to pharmacokinetics and physiology. however, it is not really useful later on in application stage. there are research modules from year 3 to year 4 and a research rotation in year 5, that would require a bit of statistics and hence m1 may help a bit in that sense. i did m2 personally because I liked calculus and it aidded my study in physics

多謝回覆!即係澳洲讀醫，m2不係必收。
想請問你之前報Monash時，有考慮UNSW嗎？可以分析下2間醫科的優劣嗎？

How about Biology, is it a must for studying medicine in Monash or other Australian Universities?

unsw gave me offer as well. pros and cons as below:
unsw:
pros:
a lot of hk med
cons:
internship in nsw not guaranteed, so final years usually apply for all states (and vic being most popular)

monash:
pros:
vic internship is guaranteed, so called 2nd priority, however, so far we have 3rd priority group getting into internships in vic as well, so that means all 2nd priority group candidates got in as well. (howover, location could be quite rural)

bio is not a must, but strongly recommended
first semester of year 1 is covering basic biology and biomed.
if you didnt do biology, good luck with y1sem1

i have seen classmates who didnt do biology strive well after year 1
