Just received the assessment invitation. The E-mail mentioned there will be a lot of test in the assessment. Seems difficult. Anyone has the experience or suggestions for how to prepare?

Last year, we did tier 1 assessment on 21 Nov, then received email for tier 2 assessment on 15 Dec. We were told by the admission that those did not receive tier 2 assessments received mail letter at an earlier date.Not sure for this year practice.For your information, the School holiday starts from next Monday.

That was actually like I called the admission office and told them I received nothing. And asked about the status. They told me they sent out all letter to those who didn't make to tier 2. If I didn;t receive it, then I shall wait for the email for tier 2 assessment. Then I literally received it at a later time on the same day after i made that call.

We anticipate the results from these Tier 1 assessments will be sent to parents by post before the start of the School Christmas holidays. Children who successfully pass the Tier 1 assessment will be invited to the Tier 2 assessment via email. The Tier 2 assessment is scheduled for March 2022.

And I noticed there were a lot of students getting into tier 2.Like in tier 1 there were about 65 students, then about 32 students getting into tier 2 (not including those applying later say in Jan and get to tier2 assessements directly) which should be on top of that 32 students

What is the Tier 3 assessment about? They didn't mention it. face to face interview?

My daughter’s one of those who skipped Tier 1 assessment last year (applying for year 2). Later after we finished all the Year 2 assessments I had a chat with the admission staff and asked why we didn’t have to do Tier 1. She said it was because we passed Year 1 assessments the previous year and Tier 1 is mainly for tested the kids’ English Ability (which I don’t understand the correlation because Tier 1 is CAT4, it’s not just about English), so no need to test again the following year, hence Tier 1 was was skipped.
For my case, we didn’t apply late at all. I didn’t know anyone in person who applied late (after Tier 1 assessment has carried on) and could jump straight into Tier 2.

There are three rounds of assessments from Year 2 onwards.
Tier 1: CAT4
Tier 2: English writing and Maths
Tier 3: Comprehension and individual chat with the teacher

Could be 2 or 1 or no leaver at all. So if you pass the three tiers of assessment, you will be put on a waitlist according to the school’s priority system. The school will call according to the list if there’s a leaver.
If there’s no leaver after a year of wait (technically 6months only), then the school will invite you to next year’s assessment. The whole process loops again.
I heard that candidates are only allowed to retake the assessment two years later if they fail it.

I think you can be more optimistic, as there are students leaving.For year 5 this year, we had 4 new joiners that is 9% of the students in a form (56)

Nope. If you pass but there’s no vacancy for you then you will be invited to the following year’s assessment and the assessment fee will be waived.

Noted that they got 2-year deferral restriction if we elect to keep the current application active.. but do you know whether we'll be able to apply again in the following year if we withdraw the current application.. Thank you.

I only knew that if a kid failed to pass the assessments, then he/she could only be re-assessed after two years (as the school believes a child’s performance can’t have big improvement within a year based on its past experience).
Does that “2 years rule” apply to defer assessment (decides not to take the assessment after receiving the invite) as well?

I think u can have a new application in that case. But in our years, there was no such requirement, maybe it’s a new policy. If you gave question, feel free to call the admission office, they are willing to answer you

Just email them and ask, they are willing to answer questions. I think the 2 years policy is newly added.

They change policy depending on the situation eg workload, covid.
Long time ago each candidate could only attempt 3 times in primary, then they changed to unlimited (maybe for more admission fees), then they implemented this 2 year-rule, maybe due to too many candidates cumulating yearly and generating too much workload especially under the covid, cuz they tend to assess all applicants in primary, unlike kindie.
