有校服public school 都是不簡單的學校,
我本來打算去education broad 做完assessment後,
便可以去學校報到, 然後再申請轉去unionville high的,
但去到學校後, 我好鍾意, 連亞女都唔想轉, 所以取消動作...
佢之前好想轉去unionville high修藝術
原因係我有位畫家朋友(很出名的)
為咗俾個仔可以入unionville high修音樂(音樂資優)
特意從溫哥華移居至附近, 真係現代版孟母三遷
其實我要報佢地址好容易   
但我覺得實在太多太多香港人,
而我朋友個仔係native english所以冇乜所謂
但相應我女會比較難pick up english

I used to live in Vancouver before. I won't recommend Bodwell High School. All public schools are under School board, so i guess you can go there and get more general info, e.g, school arrangement, homestay, tuition fee. Students normally go to the schools that are nearby their home.

Students from all over the country flock to Toronto-area for jobs after graduation, even from as far as BC.  Unless there are family members in other provinces who can keep an eye on the child, I don't see the point of studying outside Ontario.

唔好意思自己英文唔係幾好, 你意思係咪係如果國際留學生讀中學無父母或親友係加拿大睇住自己孩子, 咁係 Ontario 安大略省讀書會比較好? 可唔可以講多點點解呢?

因為啱啱同 Agent 傾, 我問 Agent BC 省好定 Ontario , 嗰 Agent 又係推介 Ontario (如果唔想咁多華人就唔好搵多倫多附近地方, 搵啲偏遠少少嘅就會少華人)

Toronto 係加拿大經濟命脈中心，我以前有幾個同事因為畢業後在BC搵唔到好工所以relocate 去Toronto, 佢地在BC 的同學通常(emoji)️3個出路 - 返香港搵工，屋企有錢留在BC 唔使點做，搬去Toronto . 如果長遠計劃係一路讀完大學留在當地工作攞埋身份，首選的確係Ontario

我目標係公立學校先, 私校我都只係搵啲 CAD萬幾至兩萬幾學費嗰啲而已, 好多私校連寄宿  CAD 6萬幾, 我俾唔起呢個價錢 -- 呢間我有興趣 Glenlyon Norfolk School, British Columbia 但太貴所以我都無行去聽

反而, 我去咗 Study Quebec 嘅政府機構吹吓水, 我問佢 Quebec 係法話區生活費比較平, 有無啲英文 High School 及大學, 佢話 McGill University, Quebec 好出名亦係英文大學, 另外, 都有唔少英文高中, 唔係一定要識法文. 此外, 我問佢 Quebec 係咪好凍, 佢話最凍都係-3XC

因為 Ontario 比 BC 多好多大學。
而加拿大國內顧主，一向唔會比 worldwide university ranking 影響，
好似 Waterloo，McMaster，Western 甚至 Ryerson，雖然 worldwide ranking 唔高，但出路都好。
Toronto (& 附近 cities, towns) 工作機會好多，
Vancouver 冇咁凍，但工作機會相對少，就適合退休。

如果選擇中學，不想太多華人，最好請當地朋友打聽，因為有些學校的確特別多新移民（華人），但要明白，其中也有人不少，臉是亞洲人，但其實是移民的第二三代，土生土長。

你小朋友幾大諗住過去讀中學定大學？公校定私校day school or boarding school? 其實GTA 都有好多好學校不是以講中文的華人為主，我覺得冇必要因為擔心太多華人而避開GTA因為始終係全國第一大城，只要找啱學校，同學們的見識和家庭背景對自己小孩的成長可以起正面的影響

其實只係 Toronto 相對貴，遠離 Toronto downtown ，租金已經平好多。
再離開 Greater Toronto，又再平。
再唔係，去其他 Ontario cities ，例如 Ottawa ，租金比 Toronto 平好多。
生活費，好難比較，買日用品買食物，其實又唔係差好遠。
Toronto 也有平嘢買 (discount store)。


其實，將來大學畢業後，哪裡有工作，就去哪裡。
由孩子們自己選擇，也看他們運氣。


Quebec 是加拿大一個特別的省，
各個因素，令省內 development 比較不明朗。

如果為了省錢，不如去 Calgary ，冇省政府 sales tax，只有 government 的 sales tax。
U of Alberta 在加拿大國內口卑不錯。
加拿大，凍極也周圍暖氣，除非常在戶外，否則唔太大問題。

反而 Alberta 有3-5 間排名100名嘅基督教公立學校. 另外, British Columbia 有更多排名100名嘅基督教私立, 而呢啲私立基督教學校學費都唔係太貴可以負擔到, 所以原本打算報呢兩個省基督教學校就算. 但係, 聽你哋咁講, 我要再花啲時間搵 Ontario 基督教公立/私立學校了

因為 Ontario 比 BC 多好多大學。
而加拿大國內顧主，一向唔會比 worldwide university ranking 影響，
好似 Waterloo，McMaster，Western 甚至 Ryerson，雖然 worldwide ranking 唔高，但出路都好。

唉！啱啱見到 Ontario 中學畢業必須要成功完成1 credit法文。我女從未接觸過法文，如果過去讀 G11才開始學法文只有2年時間追得上嗎？

呢間 school board 只有2間基督教學校, 依家知道"潛規則"都可以慳返報名費唔洗報了

我之前都係搵York region
Pierre 同Bur Oak 不嬲都唔收visa 學生
Markville 呢幾年上得好快
所以都唔會有位比visa 學生
當時我附近得返Unionville 同Milliken
所以最後都冇入紙申請

it is true. Ontario government is cutting their budget on education. I know people from local school are moving to private for this reason. the quality of education is justified for the fee you paid in private school.

your kids will need to be fluent in English and good social skills. Top private schools look for both academics and personal experience, they look into students who can present themselves during interview/assessment. And most TOP schools need SSAT as an entrance exam. Yes, Top private schools has a number of Chinese students from mainland and they mostly were born in Canada and limited students who's parents are from HK>

High-Level - Students at this level are registered to study English and Christian Ethics. 就係我見呢間 "學術好有要求", 於我而言我會比較放心我女機會大畢到業及考到大學嘛.

因為我見公立學校, Ranking 好前嘅 Diploma completion rate: 9X% 例如: Ranking 49/262

另外, EK 爬舊文, 有前輩網友分享過國際留學生係公立學校 G11/G12 畢業前一定要順利離開 ESL班, 否則又係中學唔夠 credit 高中畢唔到業. 唔知我有無理解錯? 但係學生有無得唔洗再上 ESL班學生好被動, 呢樣野令我有少少擔心阿女 hea 讀又唔知呢樣野會影響佢畢唔畢到業!

後記 : 最後係2020年1月申請咗 Luther College 及做咗 ESL test, ESL Test 結果係要 One semster Advanced Level, One semster Higher Level, 學校亦確定阿女呢個 ESL 结果要讀 4 年 High School (今年S3, 原本打算S4 去加拿大讀 High School G10, 正常係讀 3 年) 才能完成 High School, 所以最後都係决定不去呢間讀(out of budget)

我最最最最擔心係 homestay 及治安, 始終我嗰個係女, 真係好唔放心 homestay.

天氣, 如果住宿舍會係學校附近(on campus) 我就無咁擔心. 反而 homestay 冰天雪地行路或等/搭車返學我仲心痛及擔心. 另外,  homestay 嘅 lunch 唔知係咪俾三文治之類帶返學, 學校 hot lunch 唔知係咪又係只得一日, 驚阿女唔夠食, 天氣凍食唔飽身體又會唔夠暖.... 我好多野諗及擔心

好欣賞樓主經常搜集不同留學的資料，但其實看完你的考慮因素之後，不明白點解不選擇留在香港讀ib school? 如真道、啟思等呢? 甚至可在F4後報考UWCLPC?在香港的學費和雜費一定比外國便宜。

你又 Alberta 又 Saskachewan ，有冇親友在當地？Toronto 附近兩三小時的 Town (eg London, Kingston, Hamilton etc) ，有些香港人也唔慣呀。
始終加拿大冬天又灰又凍，除非住在大城市，否則真係可以好靜，有家人在身邊還好，如果自己一個，可能唔開心。香港人，始終未必慣太靜。
有冇考慮 Vancouver ？天氣冇咁冷。
如果出國，正如網友建議，試埋 UWC。
都要考慮下，將來去邊讀大學，甚至畢業後出路。
Ontario 的大學多，Toronto 工作機會多，但樓價租金也貴。

其實, 係我一直以來心結想搵加拿大價錢可負擔嘅 boarding school, 一直以來我所搵嘅加拿大排名高嘅公校都係 homestay, 所以我由始至終唔係好想阿女去加拿大中學留學, 想佢去其他國家讀 boarding school

因為紐西蘭/愛爾蘭/日本/星加坡等國家我搵到最少一間價錢十幾廿鬆萬而成績唔錯嘅 boarding school 阿女可以試報讀, 但主人翁仍然好有主見好堅持想去加拿大, 尋晚問佢佢答仍然係加拿大, 其他國家佢唔係好想去. 而加拿大公校學費 + homestay ~13萬 一年, 連埋機票及雜費十幾萬頂盡廿萬一定夠, 呢個價錢又真係超級勁吸引. 另外現實啲, 我都想中學費用平啲, 咁如果阿女日後係外國讀大學唔怕唔夠錢供佢, 外國讀大學~三十幾萬, 讀3年已經要過百萬了.

最後要滿足晒我及阿女最基本要求:
我    :  $$ 銀紙非常有限 + 最好最好係基督教學校 + 畢業率高 + 多學生畢業後入大學
阿女 : 加拿大

符合以上條件就得出我之前所最後決定嗰啲學校了.

前兩日, 我有俾阿女睇嗰間公校 FB 相, 前日啲學生已經著到成個糭咁, 我又講過嗰個地方冬天-3XC 並且冬天係歷時~半年, 阿女依家係香港咩野都話OK 無問題, 唔洗擔心喎

IB(成績好似唔錯) , 女校，係ottawa (治安應該好d, 又冇咁多野玩), 基本學費加homestay應該20萬多少少。
