理工學院
愛爾蘭共擁有十多所理工學院，開辦一系列課程，由高級文憑，普通本科學位學士到碩士和博士學位，學科大部分是科學，工程技術和商業。同時，一些理工學院包涵其他課程，如人文學科和語言、醫務輔助學和保健、藝術與設計、旅遊等。

大學
愛爾蘭擁有七所大學，提供獲國際認受的大學學位課程，本科課程需時三至四年修讀。當地政府著重投資研究和發展，大學通過廣泛的課程讓學生學習和從事研究。學生成績評審方面，愛爾蘭的大學使用校外考官作評核，以確保授予的學位學歷資格能保持一致的標準，還有當地政府的教育和技能部負責監督各大學的運作。

‘The Atmosphere In Alex Made Me Want To Challenge Myself – So I Took Up Public Speaking’

When people find out that I am an international boarder at a school in Dublin, they usually ask how I ended up here 18 months ago.

In truth, there are two reasons: first, the Transition Year program in Alexandra College was a huge attraction to me and my family. There is so much choice when it comes to subjects from drama, stage management, culinary arts, film-making, to public speaking and psychology.

Not only do we learn all the core subjects, but we also have more options that focus on our own areas of interest. My parents and I compared Alex with the other schools in Ireland and we found Alex has the most organised TY program.

Secondly, the most important factor in my decision to come to Alex was the reputation of the school – not only is Alex one of the most prestigious schools in Ireland, but it consistently ranks highly in the league tables for Leaving Certificate results.

‘There are great opportunities for us to explore our abilities outside the classroom’I will always remember 4 September 2016 as the day I started the most amazing journey of my life; heading to Dublin, leaving Hong Kong alone for the first time and taking on this opportunity of a lifetime.

At first, I was frightened of the whole new environment and was shy about meeting people. Fortunately, the school played a huge role in organising activities and group work projects for the international boarders which made getting to know the staff and school much easier.

From someone who landed in Dublin shy and lacked assurance, Alex helped me develop into a more confident person.

It helps that the focus of activities in Alex goes beyond the scope of the core subjects. There are great opportunities for us to try new things and explore our talents and abilities outside the classroom. The broad range of choices gave me the opportunity to learn about myself, my potential and my strengths and weaknesses.

It’s through this ethos that I have discovered a new, if somewhat unlikely, passion: public speaking.
I never did public speaking back in Hong Kong because I didn’t like to talk in front of people, but when I came to Alex the atmosphere made me want to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone.
So I started to do public speaking in front of my class, then the whole year, and then the whole school.
I don’t think this is something I would have done without coming to Alex, even in my own language.
BoardingBoarding life in Alex is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Being in an unfamiliar city can be frightening and homesickness can be a big problem for international students.

Luckily the staff in the boarding house are caring and understanding of every student’s needs and strive to maintain a happy and homely atmosphere. Personally, I remember during exam weeks when I was frustrated all the time. I put a lot of pressure on myself and I didn’t know who to talk to.

Fortunately, the staff in the boarding house picked up on the fact that I was feeling stressed out – and one lady in particular cheered me up, gave me advice and listened to me. From that day I realised they are not only a staff. They are also counsellors and friends.

The day-to-day life in boarding school is actually quite regular. After school, we have three hours of supervised study time, and as a fifth year, I have an individual study bedroom. I enjoy having my own space as it gives me a distraction-free space for studying.

For me, it came down to the ability to form friendships. My brother stayed with a host family while he studied in Dublin and I felt that boarding would be a better way to create lasting friendships. I have had a great experience living in the boarding house and I feel like we are one big boarding family.

There is a stereotype about boarding schools that they are some kind of stuffy prison. But after one and half years of boarding life, this is not the reality. There is a generous amount of freedom – your family is just a little bigger.

My experience as an international student has made me grow into a more independent, confident, globally-minded person and it changed my perspective on life.

I will never regret or forget the positive growth I have achieved here – and there’s plenty more to come.

非歐盟國家的學生如打算在愛爾蘭逗留超過90天，便要向國家移民局（ GNIB ）進行登記。當您向GNIB登記時，將被要求提供以下證明：

註冊入讀一個已註冊認可，在國際化登記冊Internationalisation Register内的課程;
出示學院發出確認你已被接受就讀全日制教育課程的通知書;
你必須有證據證明全部費用已提前支付予該學院;

Documentation required when placing an unaccompanied child in a school in Ireland
Whether or not the child is of a nationality that is visa required (see Appendix 1), the same conditions apply and the same documentation will be necessary, either in support of the visa application or when seeking entry to the State.

Supporting evidence for the placement
• A letter from the fee paying school stating that the student fees have been paid (the amount should be stated) and that the student is enrolled as a pupil of the school;

• The address where the student will be staying (i.e. in the case of a boarding student that the school is providing all necessary accommodation and where the child is a day pupil living with a family, the name and address of the responsible adults with whom they are staying).

The year consists of 35 weeks of school.  Four of these are set aside for work experience (February/March and May/June). There are many trips organised as part of the Transition Year programme. Performance and results may directly affect class settings in Fifth Year.

Every Friday afternoon this year all Transition Year students will be taking part in a varied programme of Outward Bound and PE activities. These include:

Outward Bound
•Two sessions of orienteering in Killiney Hill
•Two sessions of rock climbing in Dalkey Quarry or 'The Wall' in Sandyford
•One canoe session based in Dun Laoghaire Harbour
•Three afternoon hill walks in Dublin and North Wicklow
•One session of Initiative Tests (team building) based in school
•One hill walk and overnight camp in the Glendalough area (on a Friday).  Following this optional activity students are returned to school by 1.00 pm on the Saturday.

PE
Pupils will choose to complete an FAI Soccer course in school, OR they will sample the five activities below on a two/three week rotation.

你小朋友男仔如果你唔抗拒男校及無宗教限制, 我見男校全國排名較高嘅都有幾間選擇. 以下呢間成績好似幾唔錯.

另外, 愛爾蘭係歐洲國家(但英語授課), 我見每間中學科目一定要學一個歐洲語言 e.g. German/French/Italian/Spanish....咁都好呀, 學多一種語言, 將來可能有機會去法國/德國讀大學, 嗰啲國家大學學費~十鬆啲萬一年, 仲平過去英國讀呢!

如果去英國讀大學, 愛爾蘭 Leaving Certificate Results 480 Points is equivalent to 3 x A* (UK's A Levels), 去英國又承認. 香港 DSE 都係計分數入香港8大, DSE 夠廿幾分就有機會入香港嘅大學. 同樣, 愛爾蘭 set target 考 480 Points 咁咪穩震考入香港及英國大學?! 係咪咁呢?!

What a fantastic set of results from our Class of 2018!
128 students sat the Leaving Cert this year - 58 boarders and 70 day students.
Six students (4.6%) obtained 600 points +. Congratulation to Kate O'Malley who achieved 6 H1's and a H2. There were 22 students (17%) that scored over 550 points.

We were delighted to see the students score a total of 280 H1 & H2's, way above the national average. 前陣子不約而同很多人來問我，該怎麼說服父母親或是說服自己來愛爾蘭打工或唸書，因為她們都擔心歐洲的治安問題，曾經一個女孩拿了一篇換日線的文章給我看，作者分享一個在都柏林搶案實例，雖然這已經是兩年多的事情了，我可以誠實的告訴大家，同樣的事情一直在上演，就連咖啡先生還是青少年的時候曾站在歐康尼大道與莉菲河的橋頭，大白天被當眾拿刀勒索，對方大概是20幾歲，當時是個沒手機的時代，他剛好身上什麼也沒有，就跟對方說：Sorry !you find the wrong guy! 還好對方也沒有惱羞成怒動手或搜身，就悻悻然的走掉了。

但是，我們真的不能有所防範嗎？難道想在國外體驗留學生活，需要那樣戰戰兢競？如果遇到類似的人身安全事件，又該如何是好？以下跟大家用實際的例子分享，在愛爾蘭生活中，有哪些事情需要特別提高警覺，只要掌握這些安全原則，做好一些心理準備，或許可以讓自己避開一些危機。

★首先，走在市區該注意什麼？

1.切勿拿手機邊找路

剛剛提到在都柏林的最常遇到的狀況，莫過於搶劫犯或扒手，（當然還有很多醉漢跟街友們）。所以千萬不要邊拿著手機講電話、找路，或是專心自拍就沒有留意旁邊的人，很有可能你已經被盯上很久了，歹徒只是在找時機下手而已，很常發生的情況是走在馬路邊拿著手機找路，就被騎腳踏車的人，瞬間搶走電話，然後追也追不上。另外，在歐康尼大街靠Spire的區塊，人超級多的應該很安全吧？錯！不少人在那裡被持刀架脖子搶走手機跟錢包，還有Parnell 跟 dorset street 在此，還是提醒大家，如果真的遇到了，生命安全要緊，不要跟歹徒硬拼。

2.千萬不要輕信陌生人

除了上述這種正面搶劫，還有一種是用騙的，先是卸下旅客的心防，然後再下手行搶。比方說，我就曾經遇過好幾次，正在看手機找路（通常看一下馬上就會放進外套夾層中），突然就有人衝上來，問我：「可不可以告訴我現在幾點鐘？」完全不用理會他，他真的要看時間的話，海尼根大樓就有時間了，也遇過在火車站或是公車站等車，突然中年男子或婦人，衝上來問我能不能借他們一些零錢，然後他們一副大採買完的模樣，總之真的很奇怪，不給，還會被白眼。

3.小心醉漢、毒癮者與屁孩

愛爾蘭大白天可以看到很多人在飲酒，對當地人來說很正常，酒吧跟餐廳往往都是在一起營業的，如果是週末的話，那就更明顯了，在街上大吼大叫、唱歌，發洩情緒的人很多，而有的人喝了酒之後，還會有攻擊性，不論是語言的或是身體暴力上的，大家記得能避就避，或是不要搭理他。我就曾經跟咖啡先生大白天走在路上，站在路邊突然一個醉漢突然說：「滾回妳的家鄉去。」然後咖啡先生就安慰我說，這些人其實是對自己不滿意，所以發洩在別人的身上，就當作沒聽到，不要有太大的反應。

還有一次是發生在我的經理身上，他是克羅埃西亞人，我們正在公車上討論如果是幼稚園年紀的小朋友，要安排在愛爾蘭唸書的話，找學校會不會很麻煩，聊著聊著......突然間，坐在我們前面的大叔就像是發酒瘋一樣，站起來對著我經理吼：「不可置信！！你居然在我的國家說這樣的話 ,How dare  you!!Ｂlablabla......」就立刻按鈴下車了，下車前還怒踹了公車門一腳。

另外，跟蹤狂或是突然用中文向妳搭訕的陌生人，這種豔遇不要也罷，我個人是不會回應，但如果你（妳）有冒險精神的話，you can find out yourslef...請大家自己斟酌狀況囉！並不是希望出國後就要變成一個很冷漠的人，只是記得要看場合保護自己，尤其在毒品勒戒所（蝦咪！在哪裡？）附近等公車的朋友，自己就要多注意了，我會在介紹住宿安全時跟大家分享。

再來，就是整天閒晃又很愛找人麻煩的青少年，也就是大家嘴裡最常說的「屁孩」，由於愛爾蘭法律對於未成年犯罪，並不是非常嚴厲，所以就算他們到處鬧事，受害者也無可奈何。最常遇到的狀況，就是他們會向店家或路人砸雞蛋，吐口水，我以前愛爾蘭籍的英文老師，就曾經被屁孩用汽油彈差點砸到頭，這都是近年在都柏林發生過的事，大家盡量出門就結伴，危險的地方能快閃就別逗留。

4.小朋友問路，小心！是色狼...…?

前陣子社團有一個票在愛爾蘭街頭看的一個告示，提醒給單獨走路回家的女性朋友們，英文內容類似：

ATTENTION ALL GIRLS AND LADIES:I
f you walk form home,  school office or anywhere,
a little child  showing his/her address &requesting u to take them there,
PLEASE take them to...POLICE STATION!! DON`T FOLLOW THE ADDRESS GIVEN ……

如果在路上看到小孩子哭著拿著一張他的住址，好像是尋求你協助時不要帶他到寫的地方，直接送到警察局或請求警方協助，因為這是新的詐騙“強奸”手段...。有沒有覺得這個告示內容好像有這麼點熟悉，如果上網查一下會發現有人說這訊息是hoax ，2005年就曾在電子信箱中被瘋狂轉傳，不過想想也不無道理，目的都是為了提醒大家不要因為一時心軟卸下警覺，防人之心不可無，隨時注意周遭狀況。

5.記得把包包拉鍊拉好，看緊財務。

這一點在臺灣，我媽就常常提醒我，不把包包拉上就等於在跟小偷說：「來喔來喔！這裡很好下手喔。」我記得有一次在pennys逛街，突然間在我附近的一個阿姨慌張地大叫：「天哪！我的包包呢？我的包包不見了！」好像是她邊看衣服的時候，就把包包隨手放在一旁，結果就這樣憑空消失了，所以建議大家還是把重要的物品看緊，我剛開始來愛爾蘭還沒開戶的時候，是會帶貼身的腰包，因為聽到太多人手機或錢包，放口袋被摸走。

有些人可能會問，那到底幾點前要回家比較安全？答案是...搶劫是不分早晚，熱鬧與否，請隨時小心為上。另外，在這邊咖啡先生特別提供一個良心單位，如果外國人（就是我們）在愛爾蘭遇到生活上任何問題，不知道或是不敢找警察處理的話，可以先諮詢ＩＴＡＳ這個單位，他們會協助旅客解決問題，不過如果已經遇上搶劫，還是去找警察做個筆錄吧！

先交代一下背景：到愛爾蘭之後我才知道什麼叫做「治安很差」，雖然大家都說愛爾蘭人很友善之類的，但事實上那只是某個族群。在這裡，還有另外一個族群在破壞整個社會的平靜，那就是愛爾蘭的特產──小屁孩。

「小屁孩」的年齡落在小學一年級到國中三年級之間，特徵是喜歡穿著棉褲，騎腳踏車，成群結黨，他們幹的事不外乎就是偷腳踏車去賣、騷擾路人跟搶劫。他們會在你經過的時候故意嚇你啊，整群把你圍住啊，講一些有的沒有的挑釁你啊。不然就是你拿著手機站在路邊用，他們會騎車過來直接把你手機從手上搶走，然後你追也追不回來。

「小屁孩」背後的社區困境
會有這樣的「小屁孩」出現，主要是因為愛爾蘭人口經過「馬鈴薯大饑荒」之後，本來就已經剩下不多，現在生育率還在下降，而由於政府對於新生兒的補助很多，但中產階級以上的家庭不缺這個錢，所以還是保持理性不會生太多。但對於部分貧窮弱勢卻不願意改變現況、甚至父母均沉迷毒品的家庭，他們會用生小孩來領政府補助，自己就可以不用去上班四處閒晃（或繼續嗑藥）。

這些父母根本壓根不想照顧、管教他們的小孩，就導致了小孩會整群在路上惹事的狀態。我曾經在某個非常糟糕的社區，看到一群小孩在草地上放火燒電視，沒錯，這就是他們會幹的事。

在這樣無奈的情況下，對於移居的人來說，在愛爾蘭選到對的社區居住，是非常重要的，這也就是為什麼人家會說在都柏林要住雙數區（不含 2 區的利菲河以南）不要住單數區（利菲河以北），因為單數區的社區大部分都很不安全（但還是要看，有些不會）。選到不對的地方，社區發生凶殺案、或是家裡被人家闖空門破壞的案例，層出不窮。

我那時候住在 7 區，不是什麼安全的區域，從 7 區走到市區（1 區）的街道也很危險，通常我都寧願花台幣 100 元坐 10 分鐘的公車，也不想發生什麼意外。然後有一天我工作的地方來了一個台灣男生同事，才剛到愛爾蘭一個月，工作不到幾天就說要離職了，原因是他在從 7 區走到 1 區的路上被搶。

被搶一次，馬上回國的同事
他說，他和幾個阿根廷人分住一個房間，到愛爾蘭的時候身上帶了 2,000 歐現金（約台幣 7 萬元），但是因為怕被室友偷走，所以沒有鎖在行李箱裡面，都放在身上那個後背包（也沒有分開放，都放在一起）。
那一天他走在路上，邊跟朋友講電話，後背包只背了一條背帶（不是完全背起來的狀態），一個小屁孩從他背後騎過來，雙手放開龍頭，一手搶手機一手搶包包，然後就消失了。他追也追不到，路人也沒有幫他（在歐洲這很正常），就這樣損失了全部的財產

Q6：愛爾蘭人很親切，但小屁孩很多？

A：愛爾蘭人是真的親切的世界出名，但小屁孩多好像也是出名！走在路上，不認識的陌生人都會跟你微笑說早安，連在超市我只是站在巧克力粉前困惑時，會突然降臨帥哥路人甲親切解答它們的不同（真的不是搭訕），而且常常看到他們對陌生人的友善舉動，就會覺得心情很好，所以我們有時候如果發現有不夠親切的人，都會開玩笑說他一定不是愛爾蘭人。而小屁孩的情況是，常聽到會對陌生人亂搶東西或出口沒禮貌（故意說死Chinese的），或是在路上亂砸人(我自己遭遇過被丟中蘋果)，這應該是愛爾蘭對於未成年的法律很寬鬆，強調家庭教育，不以法律懲罰他們，所以小屁孩才這麼囂張，但長大成年後又突然變得親切有教養，相差好大！

Senior cycle students at Rockwell College take seven subjects for the Leaving Certificate programme. As per Department of Education guidelines, English, Mathematics and Irish are compulsory. Pupils then select four additional subjects from Option Blocks.

Send email 問吓學校先啦，我前幾日Email 俾 Alexandra College 同埋 Rathdown School 問申請2020-21年Transition Year 事宜，隔咗幾日佢哋就覆我，Alexandra 仲 send 埋 Guardian公司 List 俾我添。

我都會 email 問 The King's Hospital School 有無 exemption，學校網站無寫, 但呢間收好多國際學生，無理由無 exemption

其實Rockwell幾好。佢自己做埋AGENT。家長唔使煩。

Rockwell College has a long tradition of welcoming pupils from outside Ireland to its College and Residence. EU and Overseas pupils can apply to every year group

All EU & Overseas boarders require an Agent based in Ireland to act for them while studying at Rockwell College. There are many agencies available and the choice is for you to make. Alternatively, you can choose Rockwell College to act as your Agent at a Fee of €1,350.00 per annum. As Agent, Rockwell College will undertake to do the following:

Arrange the purchase of text books

Arrange Host family accommodation at Boarders’ Weekends

Arrange transport to/from the airport and to Host Families from the College

Note: boarders arriving for the first time MUST be accompanied to Rockwell College by a parent

Arrange visas and other documentation for non-EU boarders after arrival in Ireland

Represent the boarder in matters relating to discipline or academic progress in the College

Arrange Work Experience for Transition Year pupils.

Organise medical care that may be required.

From Subject Inspection of Irish Report, student are exempt from the study of Irish
Rockwell College is a co-educational secondary school which operates under the auspices of the Spiritan Education Trust. Enrolment for the 2015/2016 school year stands at 479 students. Irish is a core subject on the curriculum which comprises the Junior Cycle, Transition Year (TY), the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme and the established Leaving Certificate. Given the significant number of students from other countries attending the school, 33% of the student cohort are exempt from the study of Irish. There were four teachers involved in teaching Irish at the time of inspection with varying experience of teaching the subject.

留學生是不須要讀Irish的，只要小朋友小學階段不是在愛爾蘭讀書，就可以有exemption. 可參考下面：

Revision of Rule 46 of the "Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools" in relation to exemption from Irish

1. The second-level programme in Irish both current and planned has the capacity to cater for a wide diversity of ability. Nevertheless, provision exists in Rule 46 of the "Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools" for exemption from Irish in limited special circumstances.

The Minister for Education has reviewed the circumstances in which exemption from the study of Irish may be granted and has revised Rule 46 to read as follows:

" Pupils in the following circumstances may be allowed to substitute any other subject from the list of approved subjects for Irish for the purpose of Rule 21 (1) (a) and (b):-

(a) Pupils whose primary education up to 11 years of age was received in Northern Ireland or outside Ireland;

(d) Pupils from abroad, who have no understanding of English, when enrolled, would be required to study one language only, Irish or English."

2. .....Exemption granted to a student will be operative throughout his/her stay at second-level.

4. The following procedures will apply:
- a written application for exemption will be made by a parent or guardian to the principal of the school. This application will specify the grounds on which the exemption is sought. It will be accompanied by documentary evidence of age and previous schooling as appropriate to the grounds cited.

- The school authorities will satisfy themselves as to the documentary evidence submitted.

- The school authorities will prepare a full report on the student in consultation with relevant teachers.

- A decision to grant exemption will be conveyed to the parent or guardian by way of a written certificate, signed by the school principal, that the exemption has been given in accordance with the Rule. The certificate will also cite the name, address and type of school, the student's name and date of birth, the sub-paragraph of the Rule under which the exemption is being granted and the specific grounds for exemption. .......

- The application, school report, psychologist's report, report of medical specialist, copy of certificate of exemption and other relevant documents will be retained by the school and will be made available for inspection by authorised officers of the Department.

- Notifying the Department of Education of pupils who are exempted from the study of Irish: Irish Exemptions should be included where possible on the October Returns facility. Only where Exemptions are granted exemptions after the submission of the October Returns for any given year should a copy of the actual certificate be forwarded to Post Primary Administration 4. (please see information note at front of circular)

其實, 前兩年我就係睇中都柏林聖三一學院 Trinity College Dublin （ TCD ），成立於1592年，是愛爾蘭最古老的大學 http://www.tcd.ie/study/country/hong-kong/ 當時我仲 e-mail TCD 問用香港 DSE 要咩野成績先至考入得到 (2年前大學網站資料有錯, 當時網站寫 DSE 係可以報大學 Foundation course, Undergraduate Programmes 係無顯示 DSE 成績要求). 後來我查詢後, TCD 話會更改大學網站資料, 後來真係改咗 update 咗

所以, 我上面 copy 愛爾蘭中學畢業生入大學人數, 我只係睇學生考入都柏林聖三一學院 Trinity College Dublin （ TCD ）& 都柏林大學 University College Dublin（ UCD）呢兩間出名及國際排名高嘅大學

我覺得小朋友一個人在外國讀書，最緊要係安全！唔怕一萬，只怕萬一！

我從網上了解到，都柏林治安問題主要是酒鬼同小屁孩。小屁孩一般在市中心出沒。但整體還是安全的。

以下步驟是根據我在語言學校工作的方式。如果你是其他學校的學生，那麼我會建議你直接問你學校的負責人會比較好。畢竟每家學校的做法可能不一樣。然後這也是 Bank of Ireland開戶的步驟哦！

相比起打工度假簽證的來說，以學生開銀行賬戶就簡單得多了。

學校的銀行信
首先，在開戶前，你一定要有愛爾蘭地址！之後學校才能發這兩份文件給學生：

保險（保險裡必須有你的愛爾蘭地址）
學校提供的銀行信（銀行信必須有你愛爾蘭地址）

學校會把這兩份文件放進同個信封裡寄到你愛爾蘭的地址。當你收到時，記得，別打開！！！雖然信是指明給你的，但這信其實是必須交到銀行手上，由他們打開。
原因呢，是因為銀行要證明這信是完整寄到你家裡。如果你不小心打開了，那麼就算了吧，你還是可以把信拿到銀行裡試試，可能你就要展示你燦爛無敵的笑容咯！然後就告訴銀行說你不知道，所以你不小心打開了。
當你收到信後，記得通知stiva，那麼stiva就可以帶你到銀行預約開戶時間了（當然，如果你是stiva的學生）

銀行預約時間
這步驟超級地快。去銀行預約時間時，記得把兩樣文件帶在身上：

護照
寄到你家的銀行信（上面提到的）

你只需要在櫃檯前排隊，然後告訴工作人員說你要預約學生開戶（make appointment for student account），然後他們就會帶你到一個小櫃檯，然後把一本黑色的筆記本拿出來。你只要把你的護照和銀行信給他，說你是 NED Training Centre的學生就行了。之後他會把銀行行收走，再給你影印版的。
銀行工作人員會問你要預約什麼時候。基本上就是每天的早上10點或下午2點後。如果你是上早上班我建議你預約下午的時間，如果你是下午班就預約早上吧。

對了，很重要。不是說你要預約哪一天就哪一天哦！銀行會先查他那黑色筆記本，告訴你最快的日期是什麼時候。如果你幸運，可能明天或一個星期內就有了。如果不幸運。。。可能你會預約到幾星期後啊！
好了，你選好了日期和時間。銀行人員就會給你張黃色的小紙條，紙條裡就只是寫着你預約的日期和時間。

開戶日期
終於到了你預約的開戶日期了。等等，你別太開心，這銀行開戶步驟才剛開始呢！

平常在這步驟或上一個步驟，銀行會問你幾歲。如果是你25以下你可以申請學生賬戶，如果你是25以上就只能申請普通賬戶了。記得很重要，一定要確定你的email和電話號碼填對。在這步驟，你會拿到你的戶口號碼了（如上圖），銀行會把你的戶口號碼寫在一張紙上。
你是不是想問，“我現在不是開學生賬戶嗎？”，在愛爾蘭學生賬戶是根據你的年齡來決定的哦。是的，你是學生，你是用學校的信開戶，但是學校的信只是證明你是學生身份，銀行的賬戶又是另外的處理方式。

25以上以下的賬戶差別就是：25歲以下的學生賬戶就是不需要給1年的管理費（maintenance fee) 和手續費（Transaction fee），25歲以上的就必須給以下的費用：

成功開戶後

兩份一大一小的信

這時候你就等信吧。你會收到兩份信：
◾銀行卡的信
◾銀行卡的密碼信

之後你就必須到 BOI (Bank of Ireland) 的 ATM去 active銀行卡。你只需要把你的銀行卡插進去ATM，然後按銀行給你的密碼（4個號碼）就行了。在這時候，其實你就可以換新密碼了哦！記得，銀行卡的密碼只有4個號碼。

之後你就可以把3000歐元存入銀行，然後在ATM要求 e-statement 或 bank statement。
當你active了戶口，你就可以到銀行櫃檯告訴銀行你要申請online banking。

如果真係國際學生另一費用，我估應該唔會貴好多好多，但讀日校要預埋 Homestay 費及返放學車費。

但我心"營" 住，讀日校總成本係會平過寄宿學校。

我早前計過2個team break 加暑假大約有3個半月假期。
即Homestay 費用大約40x8.5x30=EUR10200
應該平過寄宿。

純我自己咁諗及作比喻, 好似香港咁, EK網友分中學 B1/B2/B3 好多時以每年畢業生考入到科大, 港大及中大呢3間本地最 top 嗰 3 間大學學士學位(話之里係考入水泡科) 及8大嘅 %, 呢啲中學質素係港爸/港媽眼中始終係有質素保證嘅中學而通常係 B1 中學.

又例如傳統名校赤柱聖土提反書院考入香港本地3大什或8大%未必高 (因為DSE 衰中文而入唔到香港本地大學), 呢間會係EK 網友口碑中, 學生目光大多數係海外大學嘅, 而呢間又的而且確去考入海外大學仲 top 過香港3大. 但係, 香港有幾多間呢個級數嘅中學? 相信唔太多吧!

考入愛爾蘭嘅本地大學相信都會睇學生成績收生吧! 愛爾蘭國家內最 Top 嗰 1 間係 Trinity College Dublin （ TCD ）, 而都柏林都算 top 嘅另一間 University College Dublin（ UCD）

我推測, 愛爾蘭本地大學收返愛爾蘭學生分數都會一定要求. 純我自己考量, 如果學校網站無資料顯示該校每年畢業生嘅 Leaving Certificate 嘅成績, 我只可以用考入愛爾蘭各大學人數去估及推斷該間中學學術水平及學生成績. 因為, 我目標都係小女可以考入到大學嘛!

Irish Leaving Certificate

The minimum matriculation requirements for students presenting the Irish Leaving Certificate are:
1) six subjects, three of which must be at grade 5 or above on higher Leaving Certificate papers or at least grade 5 in the University Matriculation examination

AND
A pass in mathematics (or foundation-level mathematics (see note 2)) and a pass in a language other than English

Additional Notes and Restrictions
1.A pass means grade O6/H7 or above on ordinary or higher papers in the Leaving Certificate and grade 7 or above in the University Matriculation examination.

2.Mathematics at foundation-level is acceptable for minimum entry requirements only, for all courses except nursing or midwifery courses. Irish at foundation-level is not acceptable for minimum entry requirements, course requirements or for scoring purposes.

3.3. Students may combine grades achieved in different sittings of their Leaving Certificate/Matriculation examinations for the purpose of satisfying minimum entry and/or course requirements, but not for the purposes of scoring. This is not permitted for Medicine.

4.Combinations of Leaving Certificate subjects not permitted: ◦Physics/Chemistry may not be presented with physics or chemistry
◦Biology and agricultural science may not be presented as two of the six subjects required for minimum entry purposes, and they may not be presented together to satisfy course specific requirements. However, both may be used for scoring purposes.
◦Art and music may not be offered as two of the three higher Leaving Certificate grades for minimum entry requirements but both may be used for scoring purposes.

考入UCD嘅學生，要有四百幾分以上先至考得入。所以，係無資料顯示想了解某愛爾蘭中學嘅成績下，係無辦法及無資料了解該中學學術水平及學生質素，惟有睇該學校考入愛爾蘭本地大學 TCD 、UCD 入學率去推測。

Documentation required when placing an unaccompanied child in a school in Ireland
Whether or not the child is of a nationality that is visa required (see Appendix 1), the same conditions apply and the same documentation will be necessary, either in support of the visa application or when seeking entry to the State.

Supporting evidence for the placement
• A letter from the fee paying school stating that the student fees have been paid (the amount should be stated) and that the student is enrolled as a pupil of the school;

• The address where the student will be staying (i.e. in the case of a boarding student that the school is providing all necessary accommodation and where the child is a day pupil living with a family, the name and address of the responsible adults with whom they are staying).

• Notarised documentation from the parents/legal guardians of the unaccompanied child student confirming their agreement to the child coming to Ireland for study purposes and also confirming that the school/host family/education agency are the legal guardians of the unaccompanied child student during the child’s stay in Ireland;

• Copies of the parents/legal guardians passports;

• Where the child is residing with a host family other than relatives, Garda clearance in respect of that family will be required. Documentary proof of this will be required.

What happens when I register?
First Registration
When you register with GNIB you will be required to provide proof of the following -

• that the student is enrolled on a privately funded course in the Degree Programme which is included in Internationalisation Register administered by the NQAI;

• a Letter of Acceptance from the college, confirming you have been accepted and enrolled on a course of full-time day-time education;

• you must have proof that fees have been paid to the college. Where your fees are below €6,000, the full amount of the fees must be paid in advance. Where your fees exceed €6,000 then at least this amount must be paid in advance;

• a bank statement, from an Irish bank, showing that from 1 April 2011 you have access to €3,000 at first registration, to support yourself, live in Ireland without going into business or getting a job, or availing of any State Benefits.

•Students are required to have private medical insurance at time of registration. Thereafter at every subsequent registration students are required to have proof that they were in possession of private medical insurance for all of the previous registration period for example by way of a letter of renewal. Travel insurance will not be accepted.

Mandarin Chinese has been introduced as a subject in Ireland’s Leaving Certificate exam, the final examination in the Irish middle school system, according to a 10-year foreign language teaching strategy released by the Irish government on Dec. 4.

The strategy, said a government official, is an important measure to cope with the rise of non-English speaking countries and the Brexit issue. Starting in 2020, Mandarin Chinese will be an optional course for middle school students in the country, and it will become an exam subject in 2022.

The plan sets out a roadmap to put Ireland in the top ten countries in Europe for the teaching and learning of foreign languages.

The plan states that Ireland should be fully prepared for the upcoming challenges, given the ever-changing situations in the global context and Europe.

As the largest English-speaking country in the European Union after the Brexit, Ireland said it must take the teaching of foreign language as a major strategy, in order to maintain its status in the international community.

Ireland’s Department of Education and Skills (DES) believes that these challenges also suggest opportunities. “Ireland positions itself as a small but open economy in the global economic center,” the department said, adding that the new strategy will ensure the maximum utilization of resources and the ability of the education system to cope with the ever-changing global environment.

Mandarin Chinese has been listed as one of the eight languages that will have a major impact on the country’s future. The DES noted that the number of dual-language middle schools will be increased by a quarter, and the country will see 25% more students taking bilingual tests in the Leaving Certificate.

According to Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Ireland has witnessed an increase in the number of people learning Chinese and studying in China in recent years.

There are two successfully operated Confucius Institutes in Ireland, with one at University College Dublin and the other at University College Cork. Through the efforts of the two institutes, more and more Irish graduates have mastered basic knowledge of Chinese language and culture.

The new foreign language strategy released by Ireland indicates a larger demand for Chinese language teachers of the country in the future, an overseas expert said.
