Depend where and what your son applied for. It is normal for some universities (eg Oxbridge, but obviously not your cases) or course (eg Medicine or Dentistry that they use MMI interview, so applicants must attend in person). So what is your son interview for?

They informed us around end of February and date of interview arranged for mid-March so rushed. has we have not heard from the other uni we've applied hope they don't send us another email form face to face interview and having go to UK again. Do you just go there for one interview or arranged for interview from different uni at once?

Hi, my daughter also applied for physiotherapy. Some uni requested for face to face, some Skype, one MNI. One of her backup choice requested for F2F, she send email and requested to change to Skype successfully. However, UEA requested for MNI, she traveled to there directly. Though she studied in UK, it took her 4 hours train in one way.

it depends how eager you want to get into that U.
in the interview day (for international student only) , i found most are international students already studying in UK. only few flew from various asia countries, i guess many have turned down the interview invitation as the reason you mentioned.

Yes, it depends if this is your top choice and is there other choices on hand. Flying from HK costs money and time! My daughter actually spend almost 2 days in UEA. Since she hasn't received interview requests from other uni at that time, she went there a day earlier for visiting the uni and town. Since her interview took place at 9am, day trip from her boarding school was almost impossible. However, if she got her top choice on hand at that time, she might not attend the UEA interview.

The one she stayed is within the uni campus, there is no age requirement. For previous cases, I will inform the hotel about her age in advance, usually they are ok for her to check in.

Just a warm reminder that English, both spoken and written English, are quite important (for communication with patients)
On average, the language abilities of girls are better than boys and they have advantages in this regard. Most programs required at least a 6.5 in ielts writing which is not that easy even for girls from famous anglo chinese schools like DGS, SPCS & STGC in hk.
My daughter has resat ielts and so far no classmates could achieve a 7 in writing.
