Hi everyone. The results are going to be out by early March, or possibly earlier.

Don’t think the results will be out any earlier than early March, possibly mid-March as mentioned by the VP.

It’s going to be (at least) two looooong weeks for the parents

Ya..probably mid March and early March if they are fast.. I am thinking they might have to speed up the paper work so they could catch up with the whole process.. well.. let’s wait. Feeling anxious about this. Haha.
Btw, the VP said they were interviewing 400 kids, including those with priorities. I wonder why they didn’t interview those remaining.. I recall there should be 650+ applications.

I heard that past years’ practice was to interview “enough of applicants” (so the actual number of students they could take + buffer for some who would turn down the offer + some who would not pass the assessment), so not every one would be invited to the play visit.

And some applicants might have declined the play visit invitation in the first place.

The letter says “400+” so it could be 499 (emoji)(emoji) (though I believe the number should be closer to 400 otherwise they would have said “near 500” or “450+” etc.)

My daughter did manage to answer a few questions briefly. She was very shy. But the teacher was very caring and considerate. She was trying to get my daughter to talk for 30 mins. She was hanging with us at the Lego’s spot for all that time. I did help a lot, though my daughter didn’t really talked back, I think she did demonstrate her understanding to all that we said by giving the right responses.. I guess the teachers are well experienced to assess their abilities.

Hillside parent here.

The teachers at Hillside are very kind and friendly. They will mainly see if the kid and the parent can understand and communicate in the English medium during the play visit. Dont worry too much if your kid was behaving a little bit shy, as long as the parent was trying to guide the kid positively and proactively in English.

All applications will then be dealt with strictly in the order of the random number. Fingers crossed for everyone!

For your info, last year we got the offer on 1st March.

Hi sorry to jump in here. I'm interested to know about your kid's experience. Is the class size about 30, with 2 teachers/ assistants?

We have 25 kids in our class, 3 teachers (One teacher and two educational assistants) and one Chinese teacher coming to class once a week.

Oooh I see. I didn’t know there was any interview in January. I thought 23/2 was supposed to be the only one. Wow.. congratz. Both kids in already, years of worries free. I have a younger kid also so I really hope the elder one could get in, giving the priority to the younger one next year.

Really? How many rounds were there? I thought we were all processed on 23/2. the email I received from the school stated that there’s only one date for play visit this year. During the play visit on 23/2, the VP also said so... if I didn’t hear her wrong.

I called the school last week. They said not all offers are out. Asked me to wait until 16 March.

That is what I thought too... should have more offers coming this week as the deadline for the first batch who received the offer to respond to the school was last Saturday (March 9).

I’ve just got the waitlist email. and I’ve also just called the school but they are not willing to tell how high up/down the list my kid is. So we will have to take the alternative school’s offer for now.

I think there are unsuccessful/reject letters. Waitlist should be for “successful” only. Sure they don’t have to waitlist those who are unsuccessful.

Seems like the first batch of offers had to pay the deposit by 8/3? So the school must have already known how many spaces were “released” by those who declined the offer.

I wonder if the school had already sent out more offers (for the released spots), before they sent out the waitlist emails? Or if us waitlisted ones will be able to take up those released spots

from what I know, the first batch of offers has to be replied by last March 8 (not sure if that includes deposit or just email commitment).
There was another round of offers out yesterday, then today waitlist email.

Hello,
I got the successful result email, the key sentences are "I am pleased to inform you that XXX was successful at play visit / interview. Unfortunately, we have reached our immediate enrolment capacity and are unable to offer XXX a place at this time."

So, is that mean they will put my kid on waiting list???? As there is no any wording of "waiting list" on the letter.

Anyone can advise?

not exactly sure but I would assume by the end of this month, similar to the first round of offers.
Maybe some will drop just before the school starts but chance is very slim now so definitely look elsewhere...

noted from the posts of other campuses, there r rejections

but not sure for hillside

if at the end, no offer for esf K1, will u guys proceed to apply for other intl schools? which ones will u consider?

in past years, esf did ask some parents to go study in esf tung chung, dunno if there will be any such arrangement this time…

I vaguely remember that someone did receive the rejection email...

And I’ve read that most ppl on the waiting list will eventually get a spot...? Am I being too optimistic?
