朋友兒子是尖子， 往年入左LSE Law 我兒也有興趣申請LSE Econ, 學校predicted grade 5** ×2 其他科 5*， 1 科4。IELTS average 7.5 準備報LSE Econ 不過上網見佢UK ranking 低過 warwick 好似唔係理想中咁勁，請教LSE Econ真係咁普通嗎？
如它日有conditional offer, 是否須交留位費？ 唔該晒各位家長！

排名只可作參考，其實每一個排名計算項目都唔同，你應該係講緊 the complete university guide 呢個排名？

呢個排名既特點係有一項 "student satisfaction"，係倫敦既大學普遍都會偏低，因為倫敦租貴、飲食貴、生活貴，學生通常都會帶多一點不滿。

LSE 世界排第五，仲高過 oxbridge。
普遍黎講，G5 (oxbridge, lse, imperial, ucl) 係大部份人公認比較 prestige，所以無需擔心。

排名只供參考，若果我的孩子選讀Economics, 在LSE 和Warwick 兩者之間，我必選LSE. 你上網看看LSE 歷年出了多少個Nobel prize winners (Economics) 便知道怎麼選擇了。

LSE 输在校園分散 亦有欠某些學系， 相比其他大學校園顯得遜色。但我兒心繫LSE econ, 所以才出呢個post 求教。 謝各位熱心家長先!

倫敦大學校園分散是事實，同時亦只有第一年有宿舍分配給國際學生，所以選大學时要衡量各因素，看看自己心內哪把尺較重要。

According to your son's predicted grades, I do not think that there is no chance. You can try one of them if your son is determined to challenge himself. BTW, what are the two subjects with the predicted 5** and the subject with predicted grade 4? This will inevitably affect your chance to have an interview or not by Oxbridge.

His predicted grades with 5☆☆ are Econ and Math. Level 4 for Chinese.

Oxbridge Econ 要求最重要的科目就係 Maths，如果有 Further Maths (即係香港的 M1/M2) 就更加好，而佢地完全唔會理會 Chinese 的成績，所以你兒子絕對有資格報 Oxbridge。He should definitely give it a try!

但如果現在才來預備考oxbridge 有點太遲了。

呢個又岩，10月已經係 UCAS oxbridge deadline，11月仲要考 oxbridge 既 admissions assessment test，真係未必夠時間準備。

你兒子只是中文的predicted grade 是4， 其余的科目全部5** 或5*，應該好大機會有interview 的機會，正如humble 123 所言，如果有M1 or M2 就更加如虎添翼。報讀Oxbridge 和LSE 的数学要求是要非常高的。

现在才報讀Oxbridge 確实遲了起步，一般来说，学生早於半年至大半年前便做预備功夫，你看看你家孩子是否有決心報讀，如是，不妨一试。畢竟世上無難事，只怕有心人。

係呀，仲有personal statement 同extended呢？ 我仔學校lower six 第二、三學期已經密鑼緊鼓同佢哋準備，考oxbridge 要有好多extra effort 同strategy !

睇番complete university guide, LSE 低分因student satisfaction 低，另一網頁你可参考unistats, 可比較你選的course and Us, LSE student satisfaction 仍低過warwick, 但有47% 取1st degree, 好高喎。

多謝各位寶貴意見! 我兒M1 如今predicted grade 有5☆ 只欠0.5分就有5☆☆ 相信兒子會格外小心DSE 奪多一粒星星。 我兒學校只有頂尖學生才獲oxbridge 取錄，所以我兒沒打算高攀。 先多謝咁多位家長意見。

An officer of LSE explained that applicants had very high expectations when they applied for an elite university and that's why they were less likely to be satisfied. Nevertheless, this can't explain the higher student satisfaction in other elite universities.
My friend, whose son is in LSE, told me that student accommodation is a big issue there. I wonder this is also true for UCL which is only several streets away.

I joined the LSE admission talk in 2016, the speaker also mentioned that the dorms capacity is a big issues over the years ! My friend suggested to rent other apartment among the boys to share the rental.

如果錢銀唔係問題的話，我就一定會揀 LSE，Ibank 好睇重係唔係名牌大學畢業。
HKUST Global Business 吹水野較多，如果數底好的話，個人覺得讀 HKUST Quantitative Finance 仲好過 Global Business。

多謝寶貴資料！ QF 畢業也未必入到 ibank 學分要求亦頗高。往英國升學，現在還附加恐襲陰影。 做父母真是長憂99 ！

上年小兒做過小小研究，課程上最豐富最多野學的正正就係CU 的 QF+RM 課程，而 UST 的 QF 就係整體 package 較吸引 (無論係 network, career mentor, scholarship，甚至去到 interview 時的認真與及有系統)，所以兩間其實高低分別不大，揀邊間真係睇個人喜好。另外， HKU 的 QF 就各方面都較差，所以收分都比其餘兩間低。

QF 畢業當然都未必入到 ibank 啦，始終 ibank 都係心儀國際名牌大學，每年只有極少數 local 大學的畢業生入到。不過就算入唔到 ibank，因課程上學到的知識不少，發展都應該相當不俗。
至於收生分數，2016年開始 HKUST QF 獨立收生之後，收分比 Global Business 還高︰
八大收生分數最高最低科目
不過佢既計算方法，英、數 x 2，Econ/M1/M2/Phy/Chem 其中一科 x 1.5，另外 best 3 subjects x 1，根據你兒子的 predicted grades，應該會有一定優勢。
至於過英國，如果真係擔心恐襲的話，就真係無辦法，呢個問題係可見將來只會愈來愈嚴重。與其日日憂心，真係倒不如留係香港讀。
