You may also need to consider religion and class size.

Thanks for your comment.  We are not yet to be a Christian, but go to the church every Sunday.  About the class size, I think not big difference.

Thanks for your comment.  I am not familiar with these two systems.  Just knowing RC has improving IB score each year.

But it is an unfinished building site. The school admission office told me that they are not sure when the whole campus can be completed. Need to see how fundraising goes

Since travel time is no big difference, you should consider the followings:
- IB vs alberta curriculum (any school esp IS might adapt IB anytime as it deems appropriate....For now, as far as i know RC is quite experienced in running a sound IB program)
- religious background (CAIS Christianity, RC non-religious)
- HW/Exam (RC no HW/test/exam in general, it requires loads of home reading; not sure about CAIS)
- happy schooling (kids from both school are very happy about school)
- believe both school prepares their students good enough for a renowned university, whether it will come true probably depends on your kid and the way he/she learns

These are my personal comments only, hope it helps in certain extent. No intention to start anything negative here.

CAIS provides each child with home reading every day.  For grade 1, they provide child with a book each day which is assessed at their own level.  In terms of discipline, personally there is more of a discipline compared to other international schools.  They need to follow certain rules at school as opposed to being totally free flow.

My girl's cousin was studied at RC, they were so free, and not too many discipline guideline need to be followed. It is a credit if CAIS is better than other IS in this aspect. I read another post in baby kingdom about CAIS high school, not much detail though, that's worry me. Could anyone share the information of CAIS high school?

I agree that CAIS has advantage with the Christian background that kids might have good character under the atmosphere of love, caring….

For RC, I would like to share that Yes, they are very free in terms of uniform, hair, study mode…..but I have different opinion about the comment “not too many discipline guideline need to be followed”.  I would describe that they interpret discipline guideline as proper social manner.  The school always teach the kids respect, responsibility, helping each other, contribution…….
The following example is about teaching Year 1 to handle conflict among themselves:

They use traffic light colour code:
When having arguing, stop, walk away and think: do you still want to talk each other?!
Green = If the answer is yes, go to talk each other again.  Or if you don’t want to talk again, find another friend to help.
Yellow = If friends even could not help to settle, find an adult to help.
Red = If you think it is really serious, find your own class teacher.

Wish my sharing could give you some idea about it.

I know kids from both schools, i do hear that CAIS has more rules...again my observation is CAIS students are usually disciplined and obedient, for the very same reason, spirited kids might need more time to adjust. In RC, kids are free to do, talk, play, interact the ways they want as long as they practice good manners in every sense. It's more like no small guidelines but big universal rule - respect. I can tell my kid is doing a lot of thinking whenever conflict/argue occurs, it happens every single day and there is lotsss of explaining we have to do at home.
