昨日終於收到下月 interview 通知，有無同路人？打算點安排？
我小朋友自己去，有啲擔心，又有無過來人可以分享吓經驗？

另我仔亦有同學自己一個飛過去，你仔有信心handle 到便可！此外我仔request one night accommodation at College, 有d college 不用request, 自動offer, 但我仔applied Churchill college 就冇offer, 我地知道佢叧一同學申請另一college 有, 於是我地就申請

My son requested 2 nights but they approved one night only, but no harm trying as his classmate applying Peterhouse got 2 nights! My son enjoyed the stay and interview very much despite unsuccessful and he is now studying HKU medicine!

越早回復，可以安排accommodation嘅機會越大,唔同College/Program 嘅Interview都有分別，有部分會在香港見。家長住宿都宜早定房，因全球都有申請者，人數不少

印象中，面試前一日報到，會有Briefing, email指示及聯絡方法，亦有通知那位教授面見，可事先在學院網頁瞭解對方專長。

我不是家長呀，但我係英国居住，知道一些，名學校在英国有自己pattern interview,成績好已是最基本，interview是要看學生思維， 因為太長篇了，很難`寫'得哂~

My friend's son (now studying in HK) also just got notice for interview and she is booking flight to go with him, her husband is going too!
If the kid is already studying in UK, do we still need to go with them? Just think maybe not much use for parents to fly all the way there from HK? Are we allowed to accompany him during the day before and after interviews?

記憶所及不論香港名校或英倫名校，好多都有劍牛嘅校友（在學或者畢業生），或者校長本身是校友，好樂意畀意見，亦有career planing 嘅workshop，對申請劍牛的同學是一大資源。

I accompanied my son to the college a night before the interview, he stayed there by himself and I picked him up after the interview in the second date. To be honest, not many parents there, I went with him for logistics and psychological support only. Since he has a few classmates also attending Cambridge interview in different colleges, they have a lot to share after the interview and I'm pleased to be there to listen to his first hand information.

雖然我同你一樣會想精神上支持同即時同阿仔分享，但如果小朋友已在英國，又能自己handle 旅程，父母專程由香港飛去兩日又好似有點兒那個。

上次我還和仔落Brighton 探呀女，因為想讓哥哥多了解妹妹學習的環境，妹妹很開心我們到訪，興奮地介紹學校俾哥哥認識！我們也趁此行拜訪妹妹在倫敦嘅guardian, 佢husband 系British, lecturer in KCL, 等哥哥interview 前取下經，唸番其實個旅程都有很多得著！

由 Heathrow 去 Oxford or Cambridge 都咁方便, 安排到在 college 住宿, 父母去嚟做嘜? 己經17, 18 歲咯, 孩子己經長大了, 父母要漸漸學識放手. 尤其是男仔或有同學同行, 父母去都嫌你阻手阻腳啦. 只要安排好機票, 最好不要晚上到達. 提早些少行程以免 jet leg. Google 埋喺邊度搭車, 再給他一個手提電話, 有問題隨時聯絡. 去得大學 interview, 段估英文都無問題, 咁都 handle 唔到, 無可能吧?

我都好鍾意去英國探阿仔，參與佢嘅學校生活，所以每年parent meeting 都去。五月mid term break 佢想留英預備考試我亦會飛過去照顧佢。但亦因為咁用哂d大假！所以要計過度過先決定邊次去邊次唔去。

幾位JM加油噢,有真實體驗，幫到手嘅分享，唔難聽得出。
有家長去也好，自己一個去也好，有心去劍橋，何防預多兩三日時間，參觀一下大學城其他學院，如跌落Pool 也有個實地了解其他學院環境，大老遠飞過去，順便去UCAS其他心水大學走走也好，通常有劍橋interview,也好大機會有其他大學Con offer。

相信有機會會被問 PS 內提及 work experience 一環。再想請教你們會點答呢個問題 :-
事情係咁既，她曾於一英資大 chambers 做 work experience 但當時她每天只是被安排到 supreme court [齋睇] 人哋打官司，日日如是，根本未安排任何工作，甚至影印，看似無任何 contribution（對我哋黎講當然係預咗），但點樣喺 interview 內講得好聽啲，唔好被覺得掉走妳免得阻手阻腳？

望穿秋水，亞囡零晨終於有好消息，7號in，一個朝早分3個section每次見兩個Dr。
唔知有冇得住，今朝諗住同佢book住間酒店先，點知大部分non refundable，有free cancellation 又近嗰間要$2,7xx!

My son applied Churchill and they have not indicated any accommodation arrangement in their correspondence. Since his classmate applying other college have provided with 2 nights accommodation, my son therefore requested the provision & finally they granted one night to my son.

Per my memory, we can choose interview in UK or HK in the UCAS application. Unluckily the college we applied have not arranged interview in HK which we didn't aware before the application. One of my son classmate applying the same subject with another college, his interview was arranged in HK, so different college will have different arrangement.

Ibis太遠啦，佢10am interview，所以想搵間近college嘅住宿。而家搵到一間過條馬路就到嘅guesthouse，single ensuite包早餐£75，取消booking扣£10，我諗住book咗先。

先多謝資料，但係Travelodge距離佢間college太遠啦，佢朝早十點面試，我唔想佢因為任何原因遲到，影響埋面試時嘅心理狀態。

Yes, you can choose interview location (HK or UK) in your application form. However, their final decision will depend on different college and subjects.

聽人講Oxford係會睇gcse成績，如果不是straight A可能會影響入學申請，Cambridge就不大清楚，但這是我個人接收的訊息。

Yes Oxford would look at GCSE result but Cambridge emphasises on GCE. Think no need to have straight A* but at least 5-6A* in GCSE to be eligible for applying to Oxford

Strictly speaking, you are a repeater (炒DSE 之後報A level). Sorry to day that I think your chance of getting an Oxford interview is close to 0.

唔知啱唔啱，oxbridge／UCAS 申請者來自世界各地，無論係任何國家成績，佢哋一定有方法 access 到相等成績（我祇以我小朋友為例）。

Oxford面試的機會比較少, 但offer比較低. 所以申請人的心情通常是失望多(無得面試). 有得面試的申請人相對是開心(因少人面試, 成功率相對較高). 最後, 有offer的申請人亦是相對壓力少d(因offer比較低).
Cambridge面試的機會比較大(80%人有面試機會), 但offer比較高. 所以申請人的心情通常是開心多(有得面試). 有得面試的申請人相對是失望多(因多人面試, 成功率相對較低). 最後, 有offer的申請人亦是相對壓力大(因offer比較高).

所以如果對自己成績不是100%充滿信心, 申請Cambridge比較有著數. 最少好大機會有得面試, 可以博面試表現好, 攞到offer.
當然我所講只是相對, 將Oxford與Cambridge比較. 只要孩子盡力, 任何大學或interview亦值得高興.
講到最後，得唔得多多少少都講d＂運＂。申請得嘅人大多數成績等都有返咁上下。要在咁多叻人之中出類拔萃其實都幾難。但面試的tutor都很有經驗，相信他們有自己的方法分出邊d申請人有potential to do well.

的確如此！學生求學位，學校亦求學生！為求增加好學生來源，自然要搵出唔同學制考試成績嘅比較準則。
只係香港中學未考DSE就只得校內成績可參考，但其他學生有GCSE或者其他公開試成績可直接比較，相對就唔知會較蝕底了，尤其係報oxbridge級嘅大學？
唔知有冇有經驗嘅網友可分享？

其實都唔會話太蝕底，當然 GCSE 考得好的話會有輕微加分，不過影響不會太大。
就以 Oxford 為例，佢地收生主要係睇 admission tests 既成績與及 interview 既表現。有個 Mathematics and Computer Science 既 admission tutor 係 the student room 都有講過︰

所以如果你 admission test 考得好，由學校提供的 DSE predicted grades 又無問題的話，就會有得 interview，然後就主要睇 interview 的表現。

謝謝！因為只是中四之後過英國，DSE predicted grades也沒有，睇嚟AL predicted grades 會係最重要，壓力都幾大！

Can't say it is 蝕底 or not. But it definitely helps your application if you have very good GCSE or A/S result before your actual A-levels exam.
Just look at a fact about Cambridge admission system for reference. There is a pooling system, and so there is a so called Compulsory Pooling Criteria that they say
"All applicants in this round (except those for Mathematics and Medicine) who are not offered places by their preference Colleges but have attained an overall average of 93% or more in their three best AS Level subjects [or SUMS for named courses] MUST be pooled."
"In the case of post-qualification applicants the equivalent criterion is: A*,A*,A* or better at A Level and in the case of students applying for the science courses listed in the previous paragraph the A*A*A* must be in three science or mathematics subjects. This criterion should be used regardless of whether the applicant’s AS/A2 modules would have warranted compulsory pooling.
Post-qualification International Baccalaureate applicants (except those for Mathematics and Medicine) who have achieved both 42 points (or better) overall and 7,7,6 (or better) at Higher Level MUST be pooled."

相關科目既 AL predicted grades 最好要有 A*，例如報 Physics 或 Engineering ，Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics 三科最好至少要 predicted 有兩個 A*，唔係的話就可能要 admission test 考得超高分先會有 interview。
不過我覺得又唔好俾太大壓力小朋友，因為其實就算全 A* 的學生都未必一定入到 Oxbridge，有唔少都可能會衰 admission tests 或者衰 interview，係 the student room forum 都見到多不勝數的例子。所以我覺得心態上最好只係將 Oxbridge 當係 bonus，就算入唔到 Oxbridge 都仲有好多好好的大學選擇。

我哋唔會俾壓力佢，只要佢自己滿意就收貨！不過佢了解咗形勢嘅可能會感到無形壓力，尤其係第一年去到英國，又要適應，又要追翻成績，自己心頭又高！要佢自己能成熟面對！
其實只係剛剛收到offer，仲十五十六，下星期內要決定，攞多啲料先啫！thanks again.

sorry，唔係大學，只係sixth form，借咗個post嚟問！
可能state boarding school係急啲，係firmed offer，頭尾叫做13日要落訂，不過我哋應該好快決定，只報咗兩間，而收到offer嘅係首選！
