Do you mean for primary school or for secondary school? If it is for p1 application, highly unlikely that a kid can get to grade 7 or 8 by then , if they can, D in grade 7 or M in grade 8 wouldnt matter coz this will certainly be 特異功能

if this is for S1 application，either grade is 都不值一談if the school does seriously looking for those with musical talent

升中我覺得係睇grade! 通常睇級數來決定是否給予music audition的機會!

For UK schools, they only look for those with distinction.
