I want to renew passport for my son and add a forename. I have searched information from the web. It seems that a 'deed poll' is required. Any brothers have this kind of experience to share.

It's easy and you can do it yourself :

1. google for 'deed poll change name UK' or buy one from ebay.co.uk;
2. download a sample deed poll;
3. edit the sample and print several copies;
4. ask your son's form teacher to witness his signatures and sign the documents;
5. Done!! Send one copy together with his old passport next time he renews his passport. He will get a new passport with the new forename.
