OK, the certificate is valid for 2 years.

Depends. Some universities count the 2 years from the first day of entering university. Some count the 2 years from the date of application. So taking the exam in August may not work for some schools.

Except you are pretty good in English, the candidates may normally get sufficient marks by more than one sitting.

Thanks for reminding me. My kid is in an IS. Hope that she can do well in one sitting as IB course is pretty stressing n she is poor in time management which worries me a lot.

This is the reason why I suggest your kid to attend the IELTS this Summer Holiday, it's tricky for IELTS in written session, should take time to learn how to explain/describe the diagrams and charts provided and use different vocab for same expression in essay writing . You will be discouraged so much if you had failed in first attempt because you have no idea to make improvement in second attempt.
