How to choose?
We live in Hk island side and received offer from both ESF hillside and International Christian school (Ma on Shan campus).
We are Christian and think Christian values are very important to us. However, there is no school bus for ICS to Hk island and if we drive my son to school every morning, it will take us 2 hours round trip which we couldn't catch to work. We thought of hiring dedicated taxi/car to send my son to school but the cost will be like 7k to 8k a month which is even more than the tuition fee. It is a very Christ centered school and kids are discipline as far as I long even though they are a play base school and ICS is more academic as I heard.
For Hillside, any parents can give me some insight how's the school? So far I know it is a play-base school and kids are offered one hour free play every day. Will it be too free for a 3/4 years old kid? How discipline are the kids?
I think both ICS and esf student mostly can be promoted to their primary unless there is some exceptional cases.
Can someone share some insight?
Thanks a lot!

For sure ICS is more academic oriented. Hillside would be a good choice if you prefer a more play learning environment.
As for the Christian value, sometimes I dont get this, I attended a Christian school in Canada throughout the high school year and I found other than the prayer in the morning and have bible studies every week, it is just like other schools. Church and Sunday school would give me more knowledge in Christianity than school.
ICS is a very disciplined school and I would say it is comparable to local school in this aspect, is just somehow difference from other IS when you are talking about discipline.

Thanks Lovecasey.
Do you know if kids in hillside is more free and less-discipline? I don't mean they are naughty or anything but would they like talk back to parents and harder to control?

Interesting that people use "more academic" to describe a kindergarten.

And it is Interesting to see these non-ESF parents are always sharing their "special comments" of ESF, in private PM.

If you really like ICS, you need to move closer sooner or later, imagine the kid will need to travel all the way to MOS for the coming 10 or more years.

Which kindergarten you choose now will also depend on which school you want for later. I have no experience with either kindergarten but from the website info, ICS is much smaller, with only 4 classrooms and the class size is about 15 to 18. If you want ICS, the best way is to move closer. If not, can someone else take your child to school, or to the closest school bus pick-up/drop off point? It is very tiring for small children to travel long distance on school bus though. If this issue cannot be resolved or you don't have strong preference, go for ESF.

ICS has 2 campuses - MOS & Shek Mun. For the first 2 years (of kindergarten), kids will go to the MOS campus, which is small but adequate. Starting from the 3rd year (I think they called it the prep year) onwards, they will go to the Shek Mun campus where they will spend their elementary, middle & high school years. The Shek Mun campus is rather new, and completed with all the facilities that u need, like gymnasium, swimming pool and library, etc.
If you really like ICS, moving is an obvious and option coz traveling does take a toll on the kid. Especially he'll be spending more time at school either for projects, research or other activities when he / she grow up. Likewise, we are thinking of moving from NT to the Island too coz my kid got accepted on the island side.... It's just something parents gotta do.
Hope my 2 cents help 😊

Thanks everyone for your input. We lean towards to ICS cause we really like the school a lot. We actually visited the school yesterday morning and talked to the vice principal. She told us that some students are also from Hk island side and they do car pool. She told us to get to know more parents after school starts.
We will try to do it and if it still can't work out, we will move closer to school.
Thanks everyone
