Hi, I have 2 children studying in a private HK local school now, originally we are migrating to australia, but some family issues we need to stay few more years here in HK. Also my children got dyslexia and mild ADHD, so I would like to transfer them to an IS with special learning needs support, also following christian way to help children whole person development. Would you recommend this YMCA christian school for my case?
Cheers,

Hi there ! My daughter is studying at YMCA in year 1 and we are from US. This is a private school following British crriculums while using HK local curriculum for Chinese (in Mandarin) and Math. So i would say this is a hybrid school not truly international. English is the medium of teaching and children speak english only to each other at school. So far we are satisfied with the school, it is happy learning school with very little homework. My kid learns very well under this environment. Teachers are very kind, christ-centered. You can try to apply and place a visit to the school, see If You think it fit your kids.

Great. Actually i have emailed the school and waiting for their reply.
Btw, how's the teacher then? Coz i find that local training teachers even they are christ-centred and with love, they don't have the idea or technique dealing with ADHD students, sometimes use wrong punishment methods. Also do u know the children got enough exercise or allow to play ball games, run during recess?
Thanks for ur sharings.

Yes the kids can play games like ball, running around during the recess time and lunch time. Teachers are kind but I am not sure if they are well trained to take care of ADHD children,,need to check with the school. I used to be helper in year 2 class and there are a ADHD student, seems teachers know how to handle and other students helped to play with him With patience too. With the class size like 22 per class, teacher usually able to pay attention to the children more than other private.

The school started in 2013, first year they run only ONE class year 1
2013/14 year 1 (1 class)
2014/15 year 1 and 2 (7 classes)

Teachers are patient and friendly, most students like their class teachers.
Students sitting properly during assembly and willing to raise their hands to answer questions.
