I've just got telephone call that my son has got such offer ( we did interview last yr and was put on waiting list) . He is now studying in local kindergarten. I understood that it's not guaranteed he could hv priority on Esf primary school admission, so is it still worthy to take the offer? Thanks!!

Only have priority for interview, but the lowest priority among others. Besides, if application rate is high that year, may even have no chance to be interviewed.

Thanks fundad, so if there's really no priority for primary school, it's not really worthy to take this k2 offer, right?

If you do not have 3 terms before interview, you have no priority at all, if you take 3 terms before interview, though it is not guarantee, you actually have priority, and the chances of no offer is really thin. So no worth taking this offer, unless you like the English enviroment, and ok with other IS.

Yes but I suppose there are 3 terms in one academic year for all esf schools

Oh if before interview, the kids must attend an esf kinder from K1 2nd term

My daughter is in K2 TY. She has a few classmates who only joined in K2 (last Aug), also has interview from ESF schools (KJS, BHS and SJS).

But how many of the classmates don't can the interview offer from ESF?

I think they were transfer from Tung Chung so they have priority, not normal for everyone

Do these latest joining kids got P1 offer?
I saw from another post that kindie student was put on waitlist after interview.

If you target ESF primary, then you should take the offer.
The reason is simple: if you are not in an ESF kindie, you have nothing in your hand.

Thanks! I'm interested in ESF primary, But I was told that I don't have the priority; I'm struggling cuz I don't want my kid to change school and adapt to new environment every yr ( he was in different schools already from PN to K1).

If you are interested in ESF primary school, i think that's a good chance. If you worry that adapt a new environment is an issue, I the ESF kinder to ESF primary is well established for this connection rather than other kinder change to ESF primary.

No, I was told by their parents they were from other kindies. I remember one is from Victoria. The others, I forgot.

I didn't ask the teacher. And in the group, not all parents responded. For those responded, there are around 4-5 kids who applied SJS didn't have interview, but all have RC/DC interviews, and they all success.

Ofcourse they are from other kindy, I mean they were enrolled by Tung chung for K2, but because of the delay they transfered to TY, and they have been promised to take the priority. Otherwise, it is declared clearly on the website, less than three terms no priority.

I am not sure in other interview groups. But for my daugher's group, there are a few kids joining in K2 only, and they also got KJS offers.

There is a classmate who has been studying since K1 but couldn't pass the interview. The Principal told his mother that KJS and DC both commented that his English language is not meeting standard. I am not surprised, as the parents plus the care takers (grandparents) only speak to the kid in Putonghua at home only.

Oh! Perhaps you are right! Most of the new students live in Tung Chung except one. So they applied to Tung Chung ESF so they have the priority.

There is only 1 new student living in Kowloon, and got KJS offer. Perhaps they pay for NR, I never know.

I think you should go for it if you are interested in ESF primary. Only if you are targeting SJS only, then you really have to think about it, as SJS is far too oversubsribed, not only TY, even WKS students do not have interviews.

As competitive as SJS?
Or same same situation as KJS?

I think no one knows exactly, all are competitive, you can't just estimate the demand solely from kinder numbers, for example there are a lot of siblings on Kowloon side who don't go to ESF kinders due to geographical reason, they are now in YMCA, Anfield, baptist etc and this group got very high priority.
