我想幫小朋友報IGCSE, 發現有兩個考試,唔知點揀,想請教D意見嗎?

(A) London Examinations, Edexcel, IGCSE(B) University of Cambridge International Examinations, IGCSE

其實2個考試差不多，只是syllabus有少少唔同，同埋問題styles有少少唔同，不如看番2個考試past papers,才决定考哪個最適合。。。

如果在英國讀書，學校會為學生揀。
如果學生想自修經香港考試局報考，科目和exam board種類是有限，應先上考試局查詢合適可報考的paper才作考慮。

CIE 比 edexcel 深好多

我打算自修,在DSE外多一個國際學歷作報英國用,所以揀一個D接近一點DSE Syllabus 的,科目會是 Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English, ICT/Computer, Accounting,先F4考IGSCE 熱身,然後F5考GCE A Level,另外,在翻閲網頁時發現似乎兩個都在改制,一個變做9-1,另一個說法2016九月底Syllabus 會改,不知道這個變會點影響這兩年考生及GCE銜接,,請問各位有冇經驗分享.

You can read the above link for more information, basically the syllabus in old GCE and new GCE are the same. However IAL is more difficult than GCE in England.

In HK, you can take IGCSE from CIE or Edexcel (CIE is difficult than edexcel).

However, only edexcel as exam board in IAL exam in HK.

Do you mean if I want to get GCE A Level qualification in Hong Kong, IAL is the only GCE examination available in HK.

Hi Starsteven,
1. Mapping back to the DSE curriculum in HK, does it make sense for private student sto attend AS at S5 and AL at S6 or usually the students just take AL at S6?

2. If the target are the UK universities, which undertakings in IGSCE are helpful for applying undegraduate courses? I heard that IGSCE English are recognized as meeting English requirement.(?) Other than that, does the results of IGSCE Physics, Chemistry etc are useful or the unversity only looks at A Level results only? If not, does people just take the IGSCE examination as warm up exercsie for the A Level examination?

Sorry for too many questions.

Hi Starsteven,

DSE predicted grade can be used for UCAS application, should your kid concentrate in F.4 & F.5 study in his/her current school instead of attending different exam within 2 years time, they will face a lot of pressure in handling the exam.
