Just read from today's newspaper that Ceclia Cheung claims her elder son is promoted a year ahead (跳級）from year 2 to year 3. However, checking his son's birthday, it's the school policy to have a child aged 8 by 31 August studying year 3.
Don't know who fool who? Or misrepresent by the reporter.

I don't know in detail. Just knew year 3 is the right year for his son. If he was in year 2 before, that meant to be he studied one year behind before.

Some international schools do allow kids to skip level, this is not a surprise, but not common for local schools though.

I do know that. But for her case, his son is not skipping years. Just went to a year which is age appropriated.

If you switch from US curriculum to UK curriculum, you will be going from Grade 1 to Year 3.
Totally not skipping any level.

No. I do not think she intentionally lied. She is just a dxxx person and not familiar with school curriculum. Kind of sad actually.....
