暑假將至，很多同學開始準備申請大學了。最近經常有家長和同學諮詢英國留學的問題，故我會和大家分享一些有關申請平台的關鍵信息。

英國大學聯招的指定申請平台是UCAS，幾乎所有有意入讀英國大學的學生都要通過它遞交申請。首先，按照UCAS的申請規則，學生最多可以報5個學校學科選擇。大部分學生都會選擇同一類專業，方便個人陳述寫作，但醫科、牙醫、獸醫三個專業是例外，只能佔其中的4個選擇。比如：選擇A、B、C、D大學的醫科，而第五個選擇可以是與之相關的Biomedical Science或Biochemistry。關於學校，牛津大學和劍橋大學不可以同時報考，只能選擇一所。

其次是申請材料的準備。需要準備的材料有：個人陳述、申請文件和各類證書。個人陳述需清楚寫出學生為何想主修某個科目，以及相關經驗。申請文件包括在讀中學的平時學習證明、成績單、推薦信等個人學術背景文件。其他證書文件，如能證明自己學習能力或志向，應作為補充材料遞交。

最後，要注意三個重要的申請截止日期。10月15日是申請以下專業及學校遞交申請的最後期限：醫學、牙醫、獸醫，和牛津大學、劍橋大學。其餘專業和學校的申請截止日期是1月20日。此外，藝術與設計課程的截止日期是3月24日。

對於海外學生的申請，UCAS的處理會酌情有所寬限。但由於申報人數眾多，大家最好能提前做準備，把握成功先機。

如AS報定A2報UCAS ？Biomedical 同 Biochemistry有何分別？大部份學生選醫科可點做？

用AS成績+學校 predict grade + GCSE 成績（如有）+ personal statement去 apply UCAS , 如 UK uni 覺得你合適或要面試，如一切順利 uni 會出 offer letter 俾你，在 letter 內會有要求你的 A2 成績要拎多少個 A or B grade uni 才正式收你。當然有了 offer 等於有8/9 成入到uni. 但要留意在新制下有些科目可能沒有了 AS 成績，那就要會看重 GCSE成績了。
還要提提大家除了 Oxbridge 在1月 deadline 外，其他 top 10 uni 也是這個 period deadline. 所以aim at top 10 uni 的話 apply UCAS 也不要太遲，因在 1月已出 offer.

至於理科的問題要請其他家長代答，因我的小朋友讀文科。

咁只係去讀兩年 Y12&13 考 A level 冇 GCSE 成績係咪好難考到好 D 嘅 U ?

也不會是，只要你 A level 成績好再加好的 personal statement 冇 gcse 去考 top uni也不難，當然小朋友在香港時的底子要好，因只用2年時間去考一個公開試並不是真的易到可以 hea 住讀。

首先要知道無論 uk or hk uni 都係睇 a level 收生，gcse 只係俾多個 reference uni在 AS period 去考慮出 offer ，但改制後因某些科目沒有 AS成績所以 uni 會睇這些科在 gcse 內的成績來作 reference. 當然實際情形要在新制行了才知，因此應,該話不可輕視 gcse （如有考）

咁下年改制係唔係無AS 啦? A2係A-Level?
如小兒今年9月six form, 已冇AS,咁下年有冇可能拿什麼成績去攞uni conditional offer? 幾時可以報non-jupus？出年or upper sixth 報？ thanks

The A Level reform means, amongst other things, the AS exam results is now detached from A Level, ie AS results will no longer contribute part of the A Level marks. AS becomes a stand alone qualification. Some schools however are still getting their Sixth Form stufents to sit AS exam at the end of Year 12. So for these schools, the AS results may provide some sort of reference to university admission tutors. Some schools, however, are no longer sitting the AS exam if the AS exam results are detached from A Level.

You may thus want to enquire your child's school if they still go for AS exam at the end of Year 12. Also for some subjects, eg Maths, this AS detachment only start at a later stage, but not in the coming year.

香港學生往uk讀兩年A-level, 他們是否被看作為海外生，而海外生往英國讀A-level 通常都無考igcse/gcse,除非他們在港讀國際學校或自修，在這情況下，大學會否酌情考慮，不會這麽看重gcse。

如沒有AS exam result, 只係校內 predict grade 而沒有公開試成績俾uni, 甘 uni 好難界定你的 academic level 去到那個水平，所以此時 gcse 會係一個好的 reference俾 uni 睇，正如有家長所提有些學校可考 AS exam 有些冇得考所以事前要向學校check 清楚才報讀。

至於酌情考慮應不可寄太大厚望，因在初起步的新制下到底 uni 會點出 offer 大家都不清楚，情形就好似 dse 甘見步行步。

My son's school in HK used IB Middle Year Program, then IB diploma. Thus, when he applied UK universities last year, he didn't have any public examination scores for university reference. He just had internal scores given by the school for Middle Year Program, then predicted IB scores. He got offers from all 5 universities applied, including top universities.
Therefore, I think the universities will understand the different academic paths the students have gone through. There is no need to worry too much about whether they have IGCSE scores and AS scores.

請問IB是否只是考一次公開試，之前是沒有其他公開試考，就好似 dse嘅學生一樣，憑校內predict grade 報 ucas。但我亞女在英國考 Alevel, 沒有gcse result, uni 會點睇呢？

一般而言 confirm 大學的 firm and insurance conditional offers 是不需要任何費用，到出了成績後有其他國家更好大學的話，亦可放棄不入那 UK 大學。宿舍申請亦是同樣道理。但有些大學要在一些 deadline 前申請宿舍、大學先會 granantee year 1 學生有宿位。所以，建議你可以的話盡早申請宿舍。

IB through train school students don't have any public exam before IB diploma exam. But a lot of IB schools in HK use IGCSE then IB diploma. For those students they have IGCSE results for reference.
In your case, the universities applied should fully understand the academic path of your kid: DSE syllabus then A level. No public exam taken yet. In my view the transcript from the HK school for Form 4 may be needed. Pls check with your kid's UK school now.

UCAS 自己 apply 就可以，不須經 agent. 如孩子在 UK 讀 year 12 學校會有指引教孩子去 apply, 唔使更担心

你在香港HSBC or 東亞銀行幫佢開個英國戶口就可以有提款 card。呢度好多家長都係咁樣安排。

其實而家英國好多大學都認識 DSE, 所以你可以去你心儀嘅大學網頁查下人家對於DSE 嘅要求。我舉例 UCL 嘅要求如下。大學會寫明要求幾多科、幾多分(是4、5，不是A、B)。

至於在考 DSE成績之前冇其他公開試成績比大學參考、會唔會洩底？其實自從冇咗會考後、香港絕大部分學生在報英國大學時都是得一個公開試成績 (如DSE, IB) 去申請大學。絕大部分都冇問題。我可以話就算入到 Top 10 UK 大學 (包括Oxbridge) 大部分學生都冇考其他公開試 (包括 IGCSE) 。唔使太擔心。

Foolish.mom, thank you. 我女兒今年讀完F.5, 9月便往uk 讀Alevel。她無考dse。你意思是否她沒有gcse或dse 教應該ok,但最好有F.4-F.5的成績。吾明白 “dse syllabus then Alevel”是甚麼意思。

I mean she was studying DSE syllabus in HK Form 4-5. Right? Not sure if you need to provide Form 4-5 internal academic results given by the school, as the results provide a track record of her academic performance. Better check with the Counsellors of her UK school.

如果兒子已有心儀學科, 就簡單些。可以有以下步驟。

1) 找出那些 UK 大學有得讀心儀學科
http://university.which.co.uk/courses
http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings

2) 到有闗大學 website check 下 DSE 入學要求, 從中列出合乎你兒子預算能力所合 (即DSE 預期成績) 的大學。

3) 再參考相關大學的其他資訊 (如大學地區, Ranking, 學費等等), 加上兒子的意見。

不過如是要專業註冊的學科, 相關資歷認受性就複雜很多。
