請問有沒有家長的子女在 Island School 就讀？校風如何？校長如何？若果從其他International school 轉去，在Grade 7 揷班容易適應嗎？

My son transferred from St. Paul Boys Primary School to Island
School year 8 last year. He needed a few weeks to adjust himself to the English-speaking environment. He luckily made 3-4 friends ,mainly Hongkongese and Japanesea few months later. Since the friends he hangs around are mostly Asians, the parents are quite strict. To my surprise, someof his East Indian,Japanese and Korean schoolmates attend private tutorial at weekend. I usually contact the form teacher so I don't know much about the prrincipal. My son told me some kids played computer games during class butvthey usually sit at the back of the class. In general, the students I met during parents' day are very polite and cheerful. However, the school will be relocated to Taiwai in the coming future as they will rebuild the school.

Thanks so much for your information. Do you know when will the school move to Tai Wai? What is the address? How long will they stay there? Do you need to pay any debenture or captial notes? I checked their website. I need to pay one-time non-refundable debenture $21,600. Any fee you need to pay other than tuition fee?

went there for an interview today, nice school and good curriculum
the school will probably be moved to Shatin in two years and stay there for four years then move back to the original campus
seems a lot of fun for students and work-life-balanced school

My gal enjoys the school life much. Very balanced school life. I have no regret and so does my gal.

first interview is testing English and Maths and no need to meet the parents . Second time is for testing English only. After the test, both the parents and kid met the Vice Principal. He.would ask the kid some general questions and then talked about the teaching philosophy of the school. Finally , he would offer your kid a place. So if the school asks you to attend a second interview, your chance of being accepted is very high. There is a lady called Betty from the admission office. She is very nice and helpful. She also speaks Cantonese and you can ask her any area of concern or payment issues.

Thanks Picnic03. We went to the second assessment today and Mr Rutter confirmed to offer us a place. The second assessment took about an hour. I guess it tested her vocabulary and comprehension. School starts in mid-August.

Ooh yes, i don't know Betty of Island school before, i did call her to check my son's admission questions last week and this week, she is very patience and clear to reply my questions, among all International school i called in the past years, i think she is the best. This is my first impression about Island School, super ! Thanks Betty !

May I ask why you transferred your son from St Paul Boys to Island? I applied for St Paul Boys P1 and ESF Primary in our catchment area. I would like my son to speak fluent Mandarin and will be able to read and write Chinese. If both ESF and St Paul Boys accept him, I will be more geared towards sending him to St Paul Boys as I am under the impression that the Chinese level will be higher at St Paul. Can you please shed some lights?

My son is very playful and cannot sit still. I reckon he will be happier at ESF but deep down I want his Mandarin to be really good. We speak English at home so I am not too worried about his level of English. I am more concerned on his Mandarin. Thanks.

Why you have an impression St. Paul boy could have a higher level of mandarin? I mean mandarin only , not meant to be Chinese level

I supposed in ESF, there is only one subject in Chinese, namely the Chinese subject.

Versus in St Paul Boys, lower grades it's mostly Chinese and Grade 4 and above more geared towards English. I assume the written Chinese will be better as they are more immersed in the language.
