今次真係比佢玩死!個女4月11，12號考咗Ielts ,滿懷希望等成績，好開心有6.5分，報咗英國嘅Foundation 只要5.5分就夠，點知晴天霹靂，agent 話我知所考的結果學校唔承認，他要的是考IELTS UKVI成績!

我打去BritishCouncil 問，佢話係最新要求，你唔知咩，佢網上有講，好多學生知道後都退錢改期，說我應該考試之前上網咪知囉!
原來係我錯，我1月報名，佢接受咗我就安心等通知，佢話會一星期前通知地點時間，如收唔到知去查詢，而亦都真係差不多距離考試日期前就收到通知，所以一心叫阿女準備考試，其間亦有上佢個網做練習，但完全睇唔到話要改制度，咁即是要再考過，我想知有無人同我一樣咁慘，定係全世界得我咁無知害死阿女?

有我陪你喎。我都是早前睇咗BK 有人post 出來才知，1月時呀仔仲專登由英國飛回港考。其實Agent 及我在考試中心報名，連他們亦不知改了。現最不幸不是考多次，而是報不到新考試，已Full了。我仔同學就改報在英國考，但呀仔時間又撞考GCSE, 我仔人不在港，比你仲有難度。

還有機會，同英國學校解釋，道聽途説新舊是一様，只不過防做假，所以加費用，及舊ielts有效至年尾，佢冇理由拒絕，試上綢舊ielts找有效期再send-次給學校

我時間上很趕，希望用GCSE 及Ielts apply Foundation, 趕今年9月升讀。全部要在暑假搞好，否則才上A Level 。

兩者有什麼分別我不清楚，有家長在另一討論有講過，你可查一查。原有IELTS今年11月後就無效，即之後只用IELTS UK VI, 我相信日後入大學同申請visa都用同一個。

近期，針對英國簽證與移民局(UKVI)宣布了僅接受指定考點的雅思成績作為安全英語語言考試(SELT)成績。針對申請DMU的學生，根據UKVI最新政策進行以下說明。

1、學生於2015年4月6日之前考取的雅思成績(不論是指定考點還是非指定考點)均可用於入讀本學年任何階段的課程：語言、預科項目、本科、研究生、博士等所有階段。

2、針對2015年4月6日之後參加指定考點(Approved Secure English Tests Centres)雅思簽證類考試的學生，可以接受其考試成績用於申請我校任何階段的課程：語言、預科項目、本科、研究生、博士等所有階段。

3、針對2015年4月6日之後參加非指定考點(Non Approved Secure English Tests Centres) 雅思考試的學生，接受其考試成績用於申請學位課程(Degree Level)，即雅思达到直讀正課標準的成績將不受考點的影響。

4、針對2015年4月6日之後參加非指定考點(Non Approved Secure English Tests Centres) 雅思考試的學生，我們可以接受其考試成績用於申請Uk國內語言班課程。

香港係指定考點的中國城市之一。
英國內政部更新承認的外語考試成績名單:
今年，Home Office再一次修改了關於英國簽證所承認的語言考試種類的名單。
最新的名單裡面只認可兩個機構的4個語言考試，一個是Cambridge English Language Assessment 機構授權的雅思考試，另外一個就是TrinityCollege授權的ISE (Integrated Skills in English) 和GESE (Graded Examinationsin Spoken English)。
而之前大家熟悉的City & Guilds，Pearson Test還有ESOL都已經排除在最新的名單之外。
針對已經剛才提到的新名單中不再受承認的語言考試，會有過渡期安排。具體實施方式分以下幾種情況，請酌情處理：
1. 對於在2015年4月6日之前參加City& Guilds / Pearson / ESOL 考試的申請人，該語言成績在2015年11月5日之前仍然能繼續使用。
2. 2015年4月6日之前還沒參加語言考試的申請人，從4月6日開始，只能參加新名單裡面的語言考試來獲得受認可的語言等級證明。
根據以往的經驗，建議廣大同學還是盡可能參加雅思考試，這樣可以避免因為政策的改變而導致語言成績不受承認的情況發生。
對於移民類申請，如配偶簽證，企業家移民簽證，工作簽證等，會需要特別注意一下，看哪種語言考試是最適合自己的（最省事），如果不清楚的話，盡快諮詢我們，盡快確定好自己語言考試類型才可。

UK的大學或大學預備班現在祇承認雅思成績(非用英語作為第一語言地方，HK被歸納在內)。如果未能達標，可報讀UK自己學校的英語班。

我知道的是如果你的中學有資格幫你用兒童簽証就不用考IELTS, 18歲以下都OK.

因為去讀書有分CHILD VISA 和 GENERAL VISA.

除左英國文化協會，IDP都有雅思(UKVI)考，佢都係UK指定考試機構之一，可上網BOOK，打入IDP.com就找到了。

用lB成績有大學不用iELTS? I guess you better check with UK Immigration before you decided not taking IELTS. My son is a GCE AL student, and ALL unis have claimed that it is the UK immigration requirement, instead of unis request for the IELTS result.

Please clarify before not taking IELTS!!!!!!!!!!

That is true, students taking IB Eng A (not B) do not need to take IELTS to fulfill both University and Visa English requirement.

Where did you get your information?
If you have IB English A, may be universities do not ask for IELTS.
But you still need IELTS UKVI for visa application.
It is clearly stated in the gov.uk website which tests are acceptable as approved english tests.
IB English A is not one of the approved tests.

It is my personal experience and also stated clearly in some university websites. When my kid applied UCAS before, all university conditional offers did not ask for IELTS except one. So my kid emailed them for clarification. Finally university replied as following and revised the offer.

Dear xxx

Apologies for the delay in relying to you. The issue has been discussed with our CAS Team and they have agreed that your English syllabus from the IB would be acceptable as proof of English ability for CAS purposes. I have removed the IELTS condition from your offer and you should see this update on UCAS track within 24 hours.

At the time when my son applied via UCAS this year, different unis had different interpretations to the immigration's requirement. Thus I guess uni's reply SHOULD NOT BE the ultimate answer to your question, but the web of immigration.

As it is critical to you all for studying in UK, I guess to verify by reviewing UK immigration is much better.

BTW, my son takes GCE AS & A2 have already gone through the OLD IELTS which valid ONLY for the coming entry.

So if you don't really get the point of my answer in relation of the CAS and the meaning of what Sheffield has stated in their website, then so be it.

Besides, finally my kid went to study in another UK university (not sheffield) with student T4 Visa without sitting the IELTS at all, nor all my kid's HK school's classmates.

想請問如今年代9月往英國讀 A-level (boarding school), 是否需要考 IELTS UKVI？還是只需要學校的CAS來證明其英文水平達到要求便可。

For the seek of others' benefit, I would explain a bit more detail in the subject of English requirement for applying student Visa purpose. I am just talking this in relation to University level, but nothing about secondary or boarding school.

Actually it said very clearly in UK Gov website about T4 Visa English requirement:

" HEIs can choose how to assess a student’s knowledge of English. They must still be at:

CEFR level B2 if you’re studying at a degree level or higher
SELT in reading, writing, listening and speaking and CEFR level B1 if you’re not studying at a degree level"

This statement simply means reputable universities (not wild chicken ones) can use their own system to assess the student's English requirement. The UK Immigration will trust and accept their assessment system as the Visa application purpose.

Everyone know what CAS is and we all need this document (issued by University/school) to apply for T4 student visa. Included in this CAS, university must state clearly how they assess the students academic performance as well as students' English standard to fulfill the UK Visa & Immigration English language ability requirement.

In order to help University to issue the CAS, they have this : Creating a CAS - Guide for Education Sponsors.

On its page 6, it said
English Language Requirement

•
When assigning a CAS to students studying courses at
QCF/NQF Level 6 (SCQF 9 in Scotland) you must ensure
that they are competent in English language at a minimum
CEFR level B2. Depending on whether you are a Higher
Education Institution (HEI) or not, we require you to
assess your student‟s English language competence as
follows:
•
If you are a HEI you can choose your own method of
assessing the English language competence of your
students as being at CEFR level B2 in each of the
four components (speaking, listening, reading and
writing). You must confirm here that you have made this
assessment, and you must retain details of how you have
made this assessment which may be inspected by our
visiting officers.

Therefore, every University will have their own CAS team to deal with this matter seriously.

In conclusion,

1) For applying University degree level, University can have their own discretion to use other English exam result (instead of using IELTS) as a proof of English Ability requirement to issue their CAS.

2) CAS is the powerful document and proof to state how school has already assessed the students academic performance as well as students' English standard and UK Immegation Dep will honour and accept this issued by the University.

3) Remember, this discretion will only be given to HEI (ie. University) who is providing the course in
QCF/NQF Level 6 (SCQF 9 in Scotland)or above (undergraduate degree level or above) to students. Anything other than that will still need standard English Test (such as IELTS)

4) Because most universities do not state clearly in their website, only Sheffield does that. That is why I provide their link to show that my case is not a special case, it actually is their policy to accept IB Eng A as the Eng requirement.

5) Therefore, when applying UCAS, if the university do not put IELTS as a condition in your conditional offer, that just mean your other subject condition will have already satisfy the ENglish requirement. (In my case, it was the IB Eng A condition). And you don't need to take the IELTS. That is the current practice for University admission and UK T4 Student Visa application. By this, it means you NEED to clarify with the university that you want to apply, about how they assess your own English subject exam (IB, A-Level). But not clarify with UK Immigration.

6) Of course, if someone still want to take IELTS anyway, that is no hurt. What I am trying to help in here is providing the fact that "IB English A (HL/SL) is good enough to apply for UK University degree course, without taking the IELTS"

If still don't understand well , read those 2 documents above carefully.

大陸或澳門？咁米要住一晚，第二朝一早去試場，另外大陸仲多考生報，很快無位，不如早的在HK上網報定，上年一早我就同小女在UK報定二次，另外佢返HK放假時也報定兩次。因為報UK大學用，UK有些大學都要求很高。有的平均７分(每一項不能底於6.5分)，有的平均6.5分(每一項不能底於6分)。

你説的是上年的舊試，而大家比玩死的是新UKVI, 原來澳門沒有試場，澳門人還要來港爭位考試。聽聞全韓國只得一個試場，全國人不但爭位，還要坐飛機去考。問題不是入U，是講申請visa。

如foundation 1月時已收，10月入學，當時用舊IETLS報，7月會申請visa, 要唔要再考新IETLS?

小兒今年9月已入讀 UK Uni，所以對新程序略有所知。首先, ielts 是在 April 2015前考到的，問了uni 在4月前考了冇問題不須再考新制，在報 Ucas 時 ielts 成績達到 uni 要求便可apply。後來，出了 A level result 達到 uni offer requirements , uni 便出了 cas 俾我們，在 cas 內寫明 "As xxxx University is a higher education institution, no documents are required to be submitted as evidence of English language ability" (正如waichung1962 的表內所指有大學担保)，因此在填報 visa 時在某 item 內（唔記得在那 column ）寫上 cas 果段担保字句便可以，最後在不須出示 ielts 成績單下成功簽獲 student t4 visa.（當然要出示 cas 來證明）

故以我理解，apply visa 係取決於 uni 認唔認你的 ielts 成績而寫 cas 担保。因此 ielts 要報 ielts ukv or not 最好上 uni website 睇清楚，至於 ib 成績有否 cas 担保就不知.

另用 gce or igce 報 uk uni 除了local student and 歐盟students 其他國籍人士一律為overseas students, overseas students 係要考 ielts 的。ib 就不清楚。

真系頗亂！我仔系2014 12 月考左，我send 佢 IELTS 資料俾5間大學申請2016 UCAS ，結果4間話ok, 1 間要求新IELTS. 因為5想再考過，我地5報嗰間就算！

1. University undergraduate degree or postgraduate - IELTS academic
2. Secondary, Foundation, Pre-section English course - IELTS UKVI academic (有的會接受 academic 或 general training)

有的有江湖地位的大學(eg: Oxford, KCL) 可以自訂要求(eg: IB, GCSE) approve學生攞visa, 學生不需考IELTS.

Is it difficult to get 6.5? What is the average marks in general? Any difficult for HK student & overseas student? And what is the requirement for Oxbridge?

oxbridge 要求overall grade 7.5, 每part 要7 或以上！至於平均一般考幾多分我就5太清楚！

根據考試局DSE-IELTS的對照:

DSE	IELTS
5**	7.51 – 7.77
5*	7.16 – 7.32
5	6.81 – 6.99
4	6.31 – 6.51
3	5.48 – 5.68
2	4.79 – 5.07

一般準備留學的學生考IELTS都會高分過果表, 抽樣的考生多沒需要和充足準備去考IELTS. IELTS仲可以考好多次. 另外DSE跟IELTS分數比重不一樣,係IELTS listening和speaking比重佔50%,高過DSE好多.
我知的例子(第一次考IELTS)
DSE 5, IELTS 7.5
DSE 4, IELTS 7
DSE 2, IELTS 6
但他們都是讀直資的.

有無British Passport, 想用IELTS 報大學都係考舊IELTS。
