Thanks.
I'm struggling that in case my boy unable to admit to SIS. If he is studying at Victoria, he still have around 1/3 to 50/50 chance to get into VSA. But with Rightmind seems nothing for backup.

For Victoria (CWB), there were 1 kid outta 153 students got into SIS last year. So seems like SIS favors RMKG students more than Victoria.
Having said that, VSA is a good backup for Victoria. So it really depends on how much risk you would like to take.

And I also have a friend who switched his son from RMKG to Victoria South Horizon in K2 and he absolutely regretted it. I didn't get into the details with him so I didn't know. I have friends whos kids graduated from RMKG with not much offers from international schools though. I think primary allocation is a concern for alot of potential RMKG parents.

Rightmind.Chinese.taught in PTH using traditional characters. materials include 第子規。 Chinese.characters recognition starts from PN and the words are hard.
I once visited a PN classroom and there were over 5 Chinese words which I was totally clueless.
Rightmind English. not sure about phonics of syllabus but definitely taught by NET.
Rightmind Math, they use a Singapoream syllabus. forgot the name
Victoria bilingual stream. Chinese in PTH using traditional characters. Emphasis is on understanding and speaking not words recognition which starts mainly in K1. Pin yin is given for reference but not formally taught. School based Chinese curriculum and words learnt are practical.
Victoria English mainly Letter sounds in PN.
diagraphs and simple blending in K1. K2 continue phonics and start reading program begins. K3 writing and spelling. All taught by NET.
Victoria math. rather unstructured. dont know how to describe it. Arithmetic is not the emphasis but logic and concepts are.

My child goes to Vic. And I finally decided not to apply to Rightmind.
Above about Rightmind was gathered.during the school visit or info session.
It is best if current Rightmind parents could update and add on to it.

So far, how do you like Victoria??
Can Victoria students able to get into international school??
I know the school website provided the allocation of primary school but for international intake usually is in K2 or K3. So I think the info on their website might not be completed. Whereas, rightmind website do provide their K3 leavers allocation.

I am happy with Victoria and I will go traditional route. The school and my child is a good fit.
I don't know everyone in my campus but from what I know, there are students going on to ESF year one *1 (no nomination rights) , Yew chung *1, CIS * 2, HKIS *1, CDNIS * 2, ISF (the most). during the last 2 to 3 academic years.
I am not sure how much Victoria schooling has contributed to those success and I haven't proceed to find out if these parents all got debentures ...etc.
But one thing for sure, all the success cases share one thing in common - English speaking, ethnically Chinese family.

SIS P1 新加插班位有15個(不計退學離校),舊年收咗七個維幼K3畢業生,所以維幼生考SIS 係有d優勢。其次KCIS 都有好多入SIS。

Thanks.
How do you know SIS intake 15 students last year? If they take 7 Victoria students out of 15, that's a very good ratio. =)

SIS
PY1 收100位,每班20人(大概3/4係國民)
PY2 每班22人,即新增插班位10個
P1 每班25人,即新增插班位15個

I'm also struggling to choose between one of these 2 schools.. I have an impression that rightmind is all about academic and not that happy for a kid. There's no outdoor playground and they always advertise their orchestra concerts. Victoria seems having a more promising backup on primary. (Although no guarantee but higher chances on VSA)
I think I may go for Victoria bilingual stream but I still wanna give local primary schools a try later. Anyone knows the success rate for getting into a good local school from the bilingual class? Shall I transfer back to trilingual class if I want an attempt on local schools?

I think if you want to study in Victoria and planning to have a try with local school. I think Trilingual class might be more appropriate, as local school interviews should be conducted in Cantonese + English?? But I guess if you speak to your kids purely in Cantonese at home, bilingual class shouldn't be a problem.
I think the requirement for local school should be the proficiency in Cantonese + English.
This is only my personal opinion.

The discussion is really interesting, I also look at these 2 schools. But due to some negative comments, I didn't apply for rightmind PN this year. I am very curious to know the flash card part, is it a tool for building pictorial memory which only works well before age 3 ...
