Assuming you have already taught him his name and he has been started on writing (4 yrs old) and he has been taught to write.his own name.

I would say 4 yrs old given parents teach them or 3.5 yrs for those deliberately started on writing.early.

Kids need to b.taught, they wont just learn to write their names out of the blue one day.

Thanks for your advice! My boy is 3.5 years old indeed, and many of his classmates can write their own English names. So I am wondering what is the "right" age for this milestone and whether we should start teaching him how to write. I share your sentiments that they will not know how to write their names out of the blue without guidance. Having said that, we have no exceptional urge to let him learn in advance of the usual milestones.

He knows how to spell his name coz he likes it when we spell words to him, so spelling becomes a game/ habit between us.

其實學寫ABC，就可以自己寫自己個名
分別係寫得靚唔靚
英文名唔似中文名，英文學齊26個字母就可以寫，唔駛學校教
