Hi myjasmine, why did you quit RC for BHS? Would you share your rationale behind?

My girl has been with BHS for over two years. Both are good schools.
The main reasons for our change were location and language environment. That does not mean one is better than the other, it just depends on what is the most suitable one for your kid.
For me, the main differences between BHS and RCHK are:
1. Location
2. Language environment (both Eng and Chi)
3. IGCSE then IB vs through train IB
4. Traditional Chinese words vs Simplified Chinese words
5. Campus facilities
Which school you choose would mainly depend on which is of the first priority to you.

Which year is your girl now?

I vote for RC because traditional Chinese learning, through train, newer campus and facilities, I don't mind there are more local hk families as they probably be more academic focus.
My struggle for BHS is under government subsidies (this year still valid) and BHS kids may be more humble and simple (word of month only: RC students can buy everything with a card in campus and they used to enjoy a luxurious library and canteen etc.)

Hi do you agree that RC has a better chinese level than BHS? And RC english is native level?I agree with you that both are good schools, to choose one over the other is just a decision of priority.

Thx for your sharing myjasmine, I felt the same. During the interview I found that BHS kids are very well behaved.

Thanks a lot for your kind input! We also feel that Chinese language is very difficult to learn and RC has certainly more homework and tests to push the students to master it. But BHS also has very good reputation in solid English education...RC is a little bit far away for us, while BHS is quite close. If going to RC, maybe one extra hour on the bus? I don't mind learning simplified Chinese, although I feel that in Hong Kong, it is easier to learn traditional Chinese as it is everywhere and kids can use it more often in daily life.
About facilities.. how many Chinese books and English books can kids borrow each week? I heard in RC, kids can play soccer on the rooftop during recess time. How about in BHS?

It's very clear then! Choose BHS coz it's nearby.

I am planning to move to Ma On Shan for my daughter 's future 13 years education. I believe through train without primary to secondary social circle change may minimise a teenager 's personal change and eliminate a lot of stress

恭喜發財;身體健康!同路人意見當然相近。
街外人總是比較簡體繁體;有泳池冇泳池;一條龍兩條龍....
呢d並非唔重要;但係校園生活比較少人講。
我覺得地呢類working parents;係RCHK大校園裡生存是比較吃虧;
收風機會少左;慢左;資訊唔平衡;跟老師距離遠左;總是差dd;
小校園其實學生比較投入;跟大部份老師關係好d;
參加校園活動機會多d;人少d即使沒有18般武藝都有多d機會參加校隊出代表學校出外比賽;
(雜牌軍當然大多是殺羽而歸...但有得玩總是興奮的);
學校冇泳池咪包車出去政府泳池上swimming class;
學校冇pitch咪包車出去政府人造草場上PE;
[仲唔使夾錢(交學費)維修保養泳池同人造草場...]

Slightly off topic here, but may I justclarify that BHS does IGCSE for grade 10 and then IB DP fo grades 11 and 12?
wouldnt it be very stressful for kids to switch into IB straight away and not having some time to adjust?
