有GPA問題請教. Undergraduate的GPA, 4.0是不是最高?
1) 中大網頁的, GPA是4.0.

2) 但港大網頁的, 為甚麼是4.3?

3) 大學畢業, 申請到海外讀master, 是不是要看大學四年的culumative gpa?  那就是說如果是有心繼續升學, 從入大學的第一年開始就應該keep 住好的GPA, 是這樣嗎?

因CU 最高分只是A,即4分；但HKU 和UST 最高分是A+, 即4.3, 所以有不同。

How about 1st Class and 2nd Class Upper cut off GPA ?
If all are 3.7 GPA, then CU is more difficult to achieve 1st Class, am I correct?

這正是我不明白的的地方, 假如有個香港大學生跟你說他的GPA是3.7, 那是不是要先確認他是3.7 out of 4.3, 抑或是3.7 out of 4.0??

每間大學唔同計法。
如果可以keep up到，梗係keep up啦！

Poly A+ is even 4.5 ..
So when you need to compare the GPA among different students, u need to know which Uni u are comparing with.

CUHK getting GPA 4/4 is nearly impossible because u need to get all A ( no A+) in CU
Poly is possible to get 4/4 because if u get a+ (4.5), u can push ur GPA back even u got B+ (3.5) in other subjects

Different Uni have their own methods to calculate the hons. But if u are saying comparing students GPA in diff Uni, it's true that getting GPA 3.7 in cuhk is more difficult than hku ust or poly. However u also need to consider that the quality and ability of students in different Uni are different and the percentage of getting A/A+ are different in different Uni.
So actually it's not very useful to compare GPA among diff uni

中大最大鑊是每科拉完 curve，Major GPA 再拉 curve ...... 所以一向 Class 1, 少過HKU, HKUST 三倍。今年中大是先加多 d Class 1 跟它們睇齊！

在CU 要拿3.7 , 他必須所有科都是A- 或以上；在UST, 要有3.7, combination 可以好多，學生如果有幾科是A+(4.3),就可以幫補吓，容許自己有些科目不是A 。
至於是否公平，我覺得很難講，因為depends on 各U 如何派A grade,。同一間U,同一科，不同的professors ，竟然可以有不同的assessment weighting......難怪d 學生sit 堂後會swap 科。實在太多因素影響gpa,但在僱主眼中，以三大來計，此3.7隨時等於彼3.7

所以幾個月前，有些EK家長誤會中大多First Class, 而事實剛剛相反！中大較難攞First Class, 同時亦影響大學排名。
