I would like to get answers to those questions too, but unfortunately they are not covered in the info session, and I called HKPS and asked similar questions last week, the lady answered the phone said they're not sure yet and more details will come in July/August... It would be perfect if everything's just exactly the same as HKPS/PODS (especially the musical instrument lesson and reading scheme), but no one can guarantee so far. And the biggest concern is whether it can open in Sept. I guess we can only wait and see.

I know there are 1 or 2 experience NET transferred from HKPS to PODS before.
Not sure if they will transfer some NET to the new sch, but hope not (for my case as my kid studying in HKPS now).
Misc charge - at HKPS, not much extra to be charged, just book fees n like picnic fees
Music course - not sure yet

How does the reading scheme work? Like borrow a few books every week? And ...

The teachers will put one chinese n one eng book in the Sch bag for you to read with your child at home. They will ask the kid to read at sch to the teachers. Teachers will give comments.
My child loves reading them, but it is too hard for him. But teacher said it's ok, just to let them get used to reading, not to test on their ability.

Based on the pics they showed in the info session, I believe the renovation is mostly done, if not completely. So by the time school begins, it would have been a few months already so I'm not particularly worried about the harmful chemicals issue. My current issue is whether they'll give me an AM offer or not, as I really don't prefer PM class...

Info session only showed designer layout. Maybe it was too real under current IT software made u believe that the renovation is done

School staff said the pictures shown in the info session are graphics for reference only. Renovation cannot commence until after Chinese New Year!

After the information sessions, I enquired three teachers on spot. Here are the recaptures of my Q&As.

1.       Will the syllabus / teaching content the same for both HKPS and Harts?
Yes. For example, including the Creative Curriculum, Phonics Teaching Approach and Reading Scheme, etc.

2.       Will there be experienced teaches transferring to Harts?
Yes but exact number is not confirmed.

3.       Should there be any delay in Harts opening on Sep 2015, what will be the contingency?
If Harts opening need to be postponed to Oct 2015, the summer holiday will be postponed to Aug accordingly. There is no conclusion to be drawn for more than a month delay.

4.       When will Harts start the renovation?
After Lunar new year.

5.       How many students in a class?
The teacher/student ratio is 1:9.  It will be similar to the HKPS setting of having around 18 students in a class.

6.       How many classrooms have been assigned for PN?
3 classrooms have been initially assigned for PN.

7.       How many students PN/K1 students are expected for HKPS?
HKPS PN – around 78 and K1 – around 120.

8.       How many students are expected for Harts PN?
Harts PN – Not confirmed, will be more than that of the recruitment number at HKPS PN.

9.       For those with Harts Offer, when are we gonna be informed for next step?
Notification letter will be sent after March around April. Harts will try to accommodate the preference we indicated during the HKPS application.

I like the teaching methodology and small class setting. I am still positive at this point. I have confirmed two other offers. I will wait for their notifications in coming April to finalize my decision.

something wrong with no. 7, i called hkps and they told that k1 only have one more class opened, and the total no of k1 is just around 9X but not 120. by the way, what is the number of students in hkps pn and k1 should not have any relationship with harts.

因為當天有很多家長問老師harts 的n班學生有幾大機會可以在k班轉去正校hkps , 所以樓上列清楚hkps n 及k1 人數，方便大家自行推算。

講真，當日info session 有部分家長好aggressive on 呢個問題，好似要學校guarantee hkps k1 肯收佢小朋友咁

You are absolutely right, HKPS will add one class for K1 (for both AM and PM). The teacher at the information session told me HKPS has planned to enroll 38 students more for K1 for both AM (@ 18-19 ) and PM session (18-19). I think this number is making sense.

The number of enrollments in HKPS is not related to Harts. Yes or No. For the parents consider to transferring from Harts to HKPS, this figure does matter. The possibility of sister school transfer was discussed with the teachers on spot. Given 1.) not all the 78 PN in HKPS will be promoting to HKPSK1 and 2.) additional openings for K1, it is not impossible for the Harts PN totransfer to HKPS.
Again, no one canpromise anything or jump to any conclusion at this point.

即係下年開始hkps k1 唔會對外收生，只會收sister schools轉過來的？其實每年hkps pn 升k1 嘅學生，真係好少數會唔讀而轉校，而且k1 就算加開兩班，都只係收多3X 人，如果pods 又話轉過去，harts 又話轉過去，咁即係跟本無可能k1 考到入hkps 了。

系呀, 呢個系當時同老師溝通得出黎嘅結論, 小朋友可唔可以成功從Harts 轉去HKPS 系未知之數, 但系K1考入HKPS嘅機會可以肯定越來越難。各位家長, 請自己衡量。

Yes. Agee with you. Based on the rough calculations/assumptions , the Harts PN intake will be around 108.

It is pretty sure that the number of HKPS waiting list should be more than that of the Harts PN intake.

Harts have not confirmed the final intake numbers , the final number will change based on different actual set of parameters.

I have friends on the waiting list but they did not request / check for any new school preference .

I have other friend on the waiting list and she checked PODs since she will be moved to HK island soon.

That said, they may have limited number of quota reserved for each sister school, may be based on their school performance or other special reasons to select those qualified candadites, if you just target for changing to hkps but not really like harts, it is risky.

First of all, thanks very much for appleseeds' sharing, that's helpful. A lot has been discussed on the transfer to HKPS. In my opinion, if the syllabus are the pretty much the same for both schools, I think Harts is a good enough alternative of HKPS.

There's an outdoor playground on the ground floor, of course, can't compare with the quiet location of HKPS campus... About tuition fee, it's very expensive indeed, but somehow I have a feeling that HKPS will gradually increase the fee to match with Pods and Harts. Afterall they can't have such a big pricing gap if 3 schools are offering something similar... Just my guess

明慧大訂？留位費唔係舊年12月交咗咩？
不過除非只考慮讀harts，否則一定要keep多間backup，我估9月未必有牌

Our situation is similar. My top priority is Harts. Given the fact that the commencement date is still pending, I have completed the registration process in York last week. I have three more schools for interviews in coming 2 weeks. What about you?

Oh, what are the 3 other schools that you're gonna have interviews with? I got 5 in 2 weeks and will give up 1 at least... If I'm lucky enough to get one of those, I may not go for Harts anymore, coz at least I know school will start in Aug/Sept without uncertainty

Caz my son is only accepted the MW offer by waiting. Meanwhile, I am gonna have another 4 interview in these 2 weeks too. KM, LH, VIC, and SJC. May give up LH as the interview time in between is too rush.

Mingwai is good. Small class of around 20. Teachers are very attentive. For PN, they have co-lead local and native english teachers. It is a good choice to confirm Mingwai as of now. Good luck to your coming interviews.

If the coming 4 interviews are fail, I may see if MW can help to switch the class from PM to whole day as I got a younger baby at home and whole day class can offer better handlling ... So may not consider HARTS ....
