I received the waiting letter. I'd like to know if there's any possibility that my child will get accepted. Does ICS issue letter of rejection? Or they simply send out waiting letters to those who they do not admit?

只要收到合格信，就等運到！
但咁耐都冇聽過有人收到reject letter. 只要未收到的！

其實我唔係基督徒，但我很喜歡教會學校，我成日都怕可能因為我不是基督徒而令小朋友冇左個學位的機會

May I know when was your interview? Do you have older child at ICS? As I know, there will be another round of interview for reception one next Saturday. If all places are filled and waiting list is long, why are they still interviewing?

I think so too as they called me yesterday suddenly for today's interview. Very short notice so that we didn't go. I think some ppls just gave up so that they tried their best to fill up the interview spaces.
Thus, should wait a while for the whole process finished.

My child finished interview before Christmas and we have received letter that we are in wait pool now. Just now wait for admissions. I know there is long queue but I dunno how long exactly it is. Just wanna get confirmation asap.

Frankly, waiting is the best scenario coz it is likely to have less than 5 seats for outsider with no priority.

May I know where do you get the number from? Did you call the school? In wait pool is better than nothing but with the limited spots available for outsider, seem so hopeless. But I do expect my daughter will be one of your classmates in ICS coming year!

My own calculation. I follow this school for many years. There are 7x students in kindergarten and 90% will go to ICS primary. So there will be 1x seats left. There are always some students with priority applying ICS, like siblings, church ppl, missionary, non Chinese speakers etc. That's why I said it's likely to have less than 5 seats.
If your gal got an offer, she must be very smart. Congratulations!

Its kindergarten expanded fm 60 seats to 7x seats last year (both R1 and R2). So the scene is totally different this year. In other words, those 16 outsider seats will be mostly occupied by its kindergarten kids this year.

I didn't ask. Since they dun disclose wait list ranking (if I were them, I won't disclose neither), The officer also said its very competitive. it makes no difference whether I am on the 5th or the 100th in the wait pool as I think no one (or few) will reject the offer.

Our first kid is in R1. If you are not a Christian, hope you can feel comfortable with the bible-based curriculum. The discipline here is same or even better than local schools. Teachers are caring and professional.

What I heard and experience is this: for pregrade 1 the interview starts on 11/2014 and class interview for existing R2 students was 12/2014; for R1 the interview for both new and siblings candidates starts 12/2014 till 2/2015. The results of pre-grade 1 should be all released and same for R1, except the last February batch.

Anyone can join summer camp but first come first serve. Kingarten and lower elementary years are very popular, the places could be filled within the first few weeks. So you better keep checking on ICS webpage, once it was uploaded, you better to enroll right away.
If you can, suggest to join the 1st section in early July as it used to have more ICS students to join and the second section mid to late July one have more other schools kids as the other than IS students start summer vacation.
My niece joined one section and her friend, a boy joined two sections of kindergaten courses. They enjoyed the summer school. I was told that after four weeks, the boy improved his spoken English.

For non Christian family,
Children in ICS pray to God everyday in school. They sing Christian songs everyday. The reason the children are well behaving is because they all believe in Jesus and knowing they have to make good choices. For some, it's a bit too much when their child come home asking where is his/her bible and ask you to pray with them. For us, it's great to have lovely families and communities that we can all support each other through life.
God always has the best plan for us all.
