My boy was born in December 2010, P1 in 2016/2017. We only have 15 points. Now study in Victoria, not the smartest but ok. He is smart in logical thinking but not good in writing due to muscle development from younger age. He can take some pressure but not too much.
Given the good secondary school, wanna try Wah Yan. Will move to Wanchai net for better chance in lucky draw.
I know he won't be the top students for few years from younger age. Will Wah Yan a good choice for him?
St James or precious blood a better alternative?

WY is definitely a good choice, as you said given a small boy he won't be at the top easily, but will still be able to cope with the works!
St. James as I know, a lot of writing 抄寫 and with girls being more mature even at same age, a Dec born boy maybe at a disadvantages.
Precious blood for a boy, I have doubt

Thank you for your advice.

Are you going to apply? Or your son is a current student of WY?

Thank you for your reply.
I read that WY has plan to move to North Point, which is being delayed. Still in Wanchai net?
It is a great challenge for the students as well as the parents for the transition from kindergarten to primary school.
All the rest to your child. I hope I am lucky enough to join WY family.

Good luck! actually half day make it easier for the boys to transit and teachers are really experience and caring...homework also very appropriate so so far it's not too tough..

May I know if need parent to teach the homework? Or school teacher does the teaching?

作者: wingszew 時間: 15-2-1 11:22 標題: 回覆:Heyheyjoyjoy 的帖子
They taught at school but all depends on the kid! For P1 boy they cannot read too much, so in my son's case he needs guidance.

Thank you once again.
Many outsider warns me not to go WY as the famous schools rely on parents to teach, at school teacher teaches very quickly as most students learn it from outside tutorial already. There is no need to teach from scratch. Is it the case in WY?

作者: wingszew 時間: 15-2-2 09:29 標題: 回覆:Heyheyjoyjoy 的帖子
No problem. Nowadays not only famous schools are demanding, most of the schools are very demanding.
In our case, I still see the content quite appropriate, we sent him to tutorial after class to finish homework and basic revision for dictation. As we need to work. (There are quite a lot of full time mom too.
) I only do revision with him for tests and exams.
All also depends on the parents, some of them send them to Chinese, English and maths classes all teaching 1/2 year in advance. And they aim high in exam ... So peer group pressure more! Unfortunately that's typical Chinese parents.

Thank you. Seems it's inevitable to give up childhood for studying in traditional schools in HK.

Haha it depends on the boys ability too. WY is still a half day school, so after tutor, still around 4 o'clock and he can play and have fun for the rest of the day. For full time student they just went home and start to do homework.
