小學去番local school會好難跟番上?

讀睇邊間IS幼稚園（有d多d中文），同埋屋企有無同小朋友睇中文書和寫吓字。

開始實會難d，但5、6歲可塑型好高，吾係無得追，不過點解要咁做，想行local school，大把local幼稚園可以揀。

我本身好buy Montessori教學法，所以囝囝都讀緊montessori playgroup, 囝囝都好鍾意，但係local school嘅教學方法好唔同，比較死板，我諗囝囝唔係噤鐘意，同埋我想佢k1~k3喺個開心環境成長，國際學校好似普遍嚟講岩d, 但平時囝囝已經講英文多，唔係好識中文，俾佢睇中文卡通片都唔鐘意。。。好驚如果佢一路都係讀國際，會唔識講中文

My son only liked English when he was 2 years old or so too. But he starts to like more languages as he grows up. Now (3.5 years old) he likes English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. But I agree that Chinese characters learning is not as intensive as in local school (which could be a problem if you want to switch back to local primary schools).

完全同意Jane1983的講法。你都諗住讀local primary；讀2年IS kinder我保證你得唔到你最想要既野；但保證你會唔見左好多野。

小朋友如果在英語比較多的環境長大，咁鍾意英文多d係好正常，但吾代表佢日後吾可以鍾意中文。儲到咁上下中文字庫，睇到吓書，小朋友都可以愛上中文。
小學時，你想小朋友條路點行？IS還是local？

如果幼稚園係比較少中文，屋企無加餐，考直私會有d難。當然，大抽獎亦有好好的學校，但名津或地區一線津校，有d都好谷，功課、默書、測考吾係講笑，小朋友由Montessori過渡去傳統小學，會幾辛苦...

多謝你地嘅意見，其實我都想佢行IS，但又担心行IS佢中文會差，始終都係喺香港住，中文唔好好似唔係噤好。。因為我同c6都要番工，工人姐姐同佢講野多但工人姐姐淨係識英文，平時我都同囝囝講中文，識聽但唔prefer講

讀IS, 若非家庭input, 小孩子應該冇機會學中文（認字、寫字），到時候試問點考直資。就算唔考靠派位，小學生一早識「學校」、「課室」、「蔬菜」，但自己個連「牛」、「羊」、「手」都未會，你說追得上都好，應該非常辛苦吧！

英文唔好去上英文班；中文唔好去咪去上中文班囉!
至於咩先叫好；咩先叫達標；人人把尺唔同；好難講；
但IS去到小學階段；本地家長d小朋友一般都識聽識講中文。(當然係屋企學番黎；如果睇埋中文卡通片個d中文仲犀利。)
第日條路點行；語文只係其中一個因素；唔係全部。

thanks for your suggestion =) i will go for IS kinders and teach him chinese myself coz i still think IS method is more suitable for my son

Oral Chinese (and basic Chinese reading) can be taught at home, especially when your kid is young so no exposure to written Chinese is required yet -- just keep talking to your kid/hubby in Chinese and sooner or later he will pick up. Also try reading Chinese picture books (pointing at the Chinese chracter as you read each word) with him.

Besides, what I usually do is to read Tang poetry and 三字经 to him at bedtime, with explainations of what the sentences mean -- kids are supposed to be interested in those beautiful rhythms. A few mintues' practice a day would work.

My son (2 yr 9 months) currently attends English only classes and speaks English with our helper and most of his playmates, but he has no problem nor attitude against speaking Mandarin so far. Of course when he grows up (approaching primary school year), we would need professional teachers to teach him (which I don't think I am capable of) how to write Chinese.

其實我覺得影響不大，幼稚園是學前教育，不讀也可以上小學。

對，幼稚園應該是學前教育，但本地幼稚園所教的已經不是學前教育，K3已經可以寫句子，加減已一定教。K3程度已經到小一，所以讀國際幼稚園上本地小一真的會吃力或事前做很多功夫

If that's the case you should just go for IS all the way and not consider switching back to LS for primary... Otherwise, he'd have a face LS sooner or later, and the adaptation later on would be even worse. There's a good spectrum of IS in terms of the level of Chinese they teach. Of course they won't be as good as LS, but still not too bad. Also, if teaching style is your concern there's a few good lively LS such as CKY. The key is, stick to one system (make up your mind) as soon as possible.

我都想知難唔難，其實係Hk有間我地鐘意的學校讀緊，但爸爸需要去外地做野，要去2年，如果過去外地就要讀international school, 但唔去爸爸就會同我地分開，我唔知点算

當然一家團聚緊要，放個優質男人一個人在大陸，真係好危險，吾值得搏。
搵一間中英兼顧的國際幼稚園，會跟到香港主流小學的。中文可能有繁簡適應的小問題，但在家和小朋友看繁體字書就得了。只要屋企有心跟，銜接吾係大問題，畢竟幼稚園真係學前教育。

Family first. My husband's best friend works in BJ while his wife & kids stayed in HK with a decent local school here. They end up getting divorced...

如果爸爸工作地點是內地，還有讀內地local school的選擇。I good friend of mine puts her son in a good local school in BJ, and he is learning so much. Of course, her family's level of English is good and they mingle with westerners, so it is not difficult to keep up the child's level of English at the same time.

我女咪讀IS, 想轉LOCAL...
但....佢好唔想.......

以前我(在local school)讀中學的時候，學校都有兩三個同學是在外國讀了幾年書（有人甚至從未在香港讀過書），回港後在local school （中文部，非一些學校的法文部）念書，都能適應。

所以讀IS kindergarten不應等於不能在local primary school 就讀，但當中要付出的準備和努力（例如中文能力），家長可能需要有計劃和準備。
