Adjusting in a new school is a more important issue to me. His friendship, your network.... it can be a burden emotionally and psychologically.  I dont know which year your kid is in. RC offers different pathways, to cater different levels of attainments and backgrounds. If you are not aiming at a bilingual diploma, do you think you can just take a more relaxing attitude and let her or him do however she or he can?

It is interesting to see that so many people think that PYP and MYP cannot provide solid foundation for students. My son has been with PYP and MYP and will be moving on to DP next year. He has had very good experience at RC. He has very solid foundation in terms of knowledge and learning skills. The school provides very good training to students for smooth transition from PYP to MYP, and then MYP to DP. IB is suitable for students that enjoy challenges and do not mind working hard. I do not believe IB to be better than non-IB, nor the vice versa. May be parents should first identify their needs before trying to see which path they wish to follow.

Seems you like RC so much. May I know more your comments towards RC? How does the teacher handle kids who are far above average and who are far below average? I heard that the teacher just leave them alone working on their own, becoz they are not able to take care of everyone. I have been told that comparing RC with SJS, SJS demands more on discipline (e.g. Kids of RC would keep talking even when the Principal comes out for giving speech, while kids of SJS would shut their mouth), how do you feel? Heard that RC has much more dedicated resource on some specialist subject, like design and it even has an in-house design team, is that true? And what subjects do they particularly support? How do you think the standard of math at RC (comparing with local schools)? I am also gathering info between RC and SJS, and hope to have a better picture. Thanks.

Yes, thank you for the above replies.

It's just... now Shatin College or KGV may offer my kid a pla ...
I took standard Chinese A at SC and it was actually pretty demanding because the literature component involved 魯迅,龍應台,雷雨,簡愛etc etc. some teachers are very responsible and helped their students prepare very, very detailed notes. However, some teachers chose to let the students learn themselves and didn't spoonfeed them with all the information.
However, at the same time, chinese b is also quite demanding in a different way because candidates need to write their coursework in 4 hours under exam conditions. Finally, sc and kgv students have the experience o IGcSE, while rc students don't experience any public examinations until year 13.
