女女現在快六歲, 過一兩年會全家一起去Sydney定居, 想問一下,知否如何選擇一間好的小學給她? 怎知道那所是好學校呢? 我們會到Sydney Eastern Suburb住,但那時到後才租屋, 所以要先決定學校

Hi James, Do you live in eastern suburb as well? where exactly? By the way, can I find the primary school ranking from the link you provided? Since I can only see the high school, or are they the same school? Sorry, that I don't know the school system in Australia and have absolutely no idea. Appreciate if you could give me some advice, thanks!

we live in Mascot now, but no good school in my area, so we plan to move to north sydney area next year

I lived in Mascot long time before ... yes, there is no good school around Mascot.
I am planning to move to Eastern suburb, do you know any good schools around there ...?? Maroubra Junction Primary school or Kensington Public school ... any other option in Randwich?
as I am still in HK now and haven't move back ....still searching ... Please help.

I am a local sydney sider. The best performing high schools are selective ones which doesn't depend on where you live but the kids sit for a test in Year 6. With 70-90% kids being Asian, but brought up in AU.

For public primary schools, there are Opportunity Classes for more academically talented kids. http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/gotoschool/types/primarywithoc.php

For Rosebery, if you go public primary you go to the schools within catchment area, a very popular choice for many parents are that they move to areas with better public high schools in case they don't get into a selective high school and they can't afford private. As private is from 20-25k AUD per year. But you can also consider Catholic system if wanted.

Thanks very much for your detail information. At the mean time, we just got her to Burwood Public School as we just arrived. I know there is a lot of parent who let their kids to study further privately for the selective school exam afterschool. However, it seems to be a very expensive fee for doing this. If I want to prepare the selective school exam with my girl by myself. Where can I buy those exercise books or obtain those information?

Those exercise books, back in my days were never published etc. I assume only the asian coaching colleges e.g. Matrix or North Shore or Prior or James An has it.
