Many say that top universities require straight As in GCSE. However, is it still possible to get into LSE/Imperial/other top schools with A level results?
I am currently studying F4 in HK and have applied for Lower Sixth commencing Sept 2016. However, what worries me is that I do not have any public exam results. Will top universities accept my application?'

What should I do?

路過,如覺GCSE重要,可現申請入讀GCSE 10期,應可1月2015就讀,另DSE成績好可直接申請 U......

I assume you'll be taking GCE A-level exam in UK, right?  For Oxbridge, you may be given conditional offer based on your predicted grades and your performance in the required written test and interview, etc.

GCSE不一定要,因你lower 6 有要考ASlevel.Us 也可以此作參考,最重要A level 考得好.你去到你UK校,老師會協助.努力!

Same problem here...
I am applying for the lower sixth form too. The latest news said that the AS level would no longer contribute marks to the GCE A-level. Therefore i am a bit confused by the same issue. Some say that it's better to take the GCSE exam but others just think that even I take the GCSE exam, it won't be easy for a DSE student to obtain good results so it won't help.

Read this

It seems that even the schools themselves are not quite sure what is going to happen.

Anyway, the article said:-
1. Currently, most universities use teachers’ predicted A-level grades alongside GCSE results and AS-level scores when making provisional offers of places to students.  But data from UCAS shows around 70 universities and colleges, including several leading Russell Group institutions, also run their own admissions tests in at least one subject.
2. AS-levels will become a standalone qualification..... The move also casts doubt over whether universities will use the AS as part of the selection process.

All in all, perhaps it is safer to have GCSE results to back up your application now that AS-level will soon lose its importance. I guess one could still apply to universities on the basis of teachers' predicted A-level grades.  But then the reputation and ranking of the school you go to might play an important part here as universities might not place the same weight on predictions made by the lesser known schools as those made by the top ones.

Yes, I will be studying A levels.
Do you mean that the most important thing is the entry test in Us?

The example I quoted is Oxbridge.  Many other U's may not have entry test requirements, which also depends on the course of undergraduate study.  Some U's do put more emphasis on GCSE. Again, taking the example of Oxbridge, Oxford puts more importance in GCSE while Cambridge looks more for good results in AS level from their applicants' achieved results in public exams.
