It doesn't need to be as extreme.

But giving homework assignments to kindergarten kids is definitely not a good idea.

I guess ideally all parents want their kids to have a happy childhood. Unfortunately, if parents decide to walk down the path of local education, they must expose their kids to assignments gradually. I've seen a no. of cases where children who attended a so-called happy school with no homework suffered once they were promoted into P.1 as they couldn't adapt to the sudden change. I guess we just have to strike a balance after all...
