Below is quoted from http://faculty.washington.edu/marynell/grammar/tellsay.html.
'There is not very much difference between speak and talk.
Talk is the more usual word to refer to conversational exchanges and informal communication.'
As such, the use of 'talk' in your question above should be more common for casual chat. However, the use of speak is more appropriate when it's mostly an one way conversation. Say, the boss is speaking loudly to his/her staff on the phone.

There are a number of differences, eg:
- You can't talk your way out. (I never say "Speak your way out")
- What are talking about? (Seems odd to say "What are you speaking about?")
- Peter can speak the local language. (I never say "Peter can talk the local language.)
- The boss spoke with Peter about the pay rise.
I don't know why they just seem natural to me.

如果你問我,我認為speak 著重「發聲」這個動作、talk 著重「對答」。當然平時生活用,好多時沒有大分別,但也可以有分別。
For example (作句):
Putin spoke in an occasion that Crimea belongs to Russia.
Obama talks to Cameron today as to how to solve the Crimean crisis.
Facebook founders are in talks with Google in relation to the possibilities of their cooperation in the Fall 2016.

Speak to sb, 有點上對下,老細訓話的意思。Talk to sb, 就平輩d。
樓主果兩句都得。

Thanks all for your reply. I do believe both sentences are correct. However, the teacher said the first sentence is wrong and probably and again, it's not the in model answers the teacher referred to. Our great education in Hong Kong.
