1. if the root of the equation y/2-3=3 is k, find the value of k.
k =?

2.in the factory, the cost $c of producing a skirt can be calculated by the formula c =38+50/n,
where n is the number of skirt produced.
a) find the cost of a skirt if 100 skirt are produced.
b) find the total cost of producing the skirts if 200 skirt are produced.

1) y/2 - 3 = 3
y/2 = 6
y = 12
The root of the equation is 12, so k = 12.

2a) c = 38 + 50/100
c = 38.5
The cost of 1 shirt is $38.5.

2b) c = 38 + 50/200
c = 38.25
200 × 38.25 = 7650
The total cost is $7650
