School welcomes students to participate in all sorts of outside competition but it's not a must and won't usually " coordinates and apply" for students, except for school speech festivals which teachers will select students and apply by school. However, if students win any prize, students will be acknowledged at the assemblies and will present the awards in front of classmates so it's kind of an encouragement.
