You live in metro town, sure pick boxhill la. No needs traveling that allows your kids more leisure time

Very tempted to go for Boxhill because it's really near.. But husband said campus is small and lesser focus on Chinese.. Mills is bigger and new, have Chinese lessons everyday. Really hard to choose..

If u will anyway change to other kindergarten in K1, pick a near one. i live in Ocean Shores and my daughter is studying in BH nursery class. I think they are too small to study far away.... near home is good ar ~

Personally I think Mills is good.

We got an offer in another international school this month or we would have sent our son to Mills for K1 next year.

Yes, that's why I am so tempted to send my bb to Boxhill. But my husband said the campus is small.. I'm still not sure whether to change school in K1..

去過Mills open day, 老師不錯，環境幾好，好新，都上過一次trial playgroup, 覺得幾OK, bb 都開心.. Boxhill 好近， Mills 就要坐校車，決定唔到.. :(

I like Mills, I've been to the Open day and i think the teachers and staff are quite good, teacher to student ratio is 1:7….. try the playgroup first to get some idea

The teachers are very nice and the principal is very caring too. The campus is new and big and the classroom is well setup too.

My son was happy and smiling all the time when he was in Mills (open day and trial class). He has always been sad and not happy when he is in school (Learning Habitat).

Oh, really? Which Learning Habitat? Lohas Park? I heard it is a good school? Your son still studying there? My girl was happy when we went for Mills open day. We think the teachers are quite good.

Our experience in LH (Lohas Park campus) has been very negative. The teacher is not very caring and the material is too difficult (to us anyways as it seems to be the trend for all schools now). To me, PN is all about playing and learning how to take care of themselves but the school focus mainly on academic. That's why we are pulling our son out and transfer to an international school for K1 next year.

Mills seems to be good as the teachers seem to be caring and the main focus is 'learning through play'. There is no homework at all until K3 (according to the principal).

Wow.. I didn't know that LH focuses so much on academic.. We thought that they are a 'happy' school. Yes, I agree with you that PN should be about playing and not so much on academic. They are too young to be pushed to pick up too much academic stuff.. Good that you've gotten other IS that is suitable for your son. :) Which IS is that?

If bb studied in Mills, what kind of primary school will they study? I target to get into local school and not sure if Mills can catch up or not.

I understand from Mills during their open day is that, they have 2 streams, 1 targeting local schools, and another targeting international schools.

We haven't decided yet but it will likely be either Woodland or Etonhouse (unless IMS calls us and offers us a place as we are on the waiting list for the Tin Hau campus). We will also consider Small World too if they can offer us morning class (currently we are offered afternoon class only).
We do like Mills very much too. But my wife prefers a school with a higher native English speaking student ratio (so that our son won't pick up bad accent here and there like what we find in Learning Habitat this year in PN).

We are (after one year in Learning Habitat we find that the local education system and direction is not what we are looking for).

Ic.. Thanks for sharing. We'll likely pick Mills for our daughter. By the way, what makes you pick woodlands? I've heard about them but haven't have chance to understand more.

We like Mills a lot too.  But two things that make us choose EtonHouse or Woodland in the end.

-  The native English speaking student ratio is not as high in Mills
-  They say they are preparing students for both IS and LS but we worry that it would eventually be 'caught in between' in this approach

Boxhill is really a good kindergarten as below:

1. Good teachers (the heartful class teacher carry / talk / 抱著談心 with my super shy baby)

2. Monthly interesting learning activites (e.g. fashion show, 民族服装 , mother day, father day, cooking classes - cookie, muffin, pizza, jelly, sandwich, xmas, lunar new year market, mid-autum day etc.)

3. Chinese class is around 30 minutes per day.  But what does your husband expect that 2-years old babies will learn in the class? Write the words, read the story book and answer the book question ...

4. Small school area.  But the 2-years old baby already think that the school is huge.

5. Your 2-years old baby could pass through club house and take a lift to the shopping mall.  No need to worry about thunder-storming, heavier raining ... In addition, you could support your baby whenever it needs you.

6. Most of our ex-classmates get the good offer in their K1 (e.g. LH/Kln Tong ling liang/st. clares/etc.)

If you want to get more info about the school, you could talk with the teachers/supervisor directly.  They are helpful.

Yes, Boxhill is really near to our place.. And we don't have to worry about bad weather.. Actually, we do believe that Boxhill is a good school. we don't really expect the school to push a lot on academic, we are hoping that our girl will be happy and enjoy going school. our worry is actually about their campus being small and no windows, so ventilation may be not as good.. Our daughter is pretty weak and always gets sick easily.. :(

Totally agree. Boxhill is a very good school. Teachers are kind hearted n patient. The school actively & regularly organizes activities to encourage kids learn through play. I was the parent volunteer in several functions and do feel the school's sincerely and teachers' love & enthusiasm. This is crucial for running a kindergarten.

其實十月我係見到有人話會收細B, 特意請假去交表，仲打電話問收唔收表才去的，估唔到見到其他人有得interview／有offer, 十一月再打去問細B幾時可以in, 卻話未知！
