　　(星島日報報道)在英國教育部內負責兒童教育事務的女高官特拉斯（Elizabeth Truss）周二宣布，英國政府已決定聘請六十名中國數學教師，於今秋赴英任教，希望能提高英學童的數學水平。

　　特拉斯最近曾去過上海考察，發現上海學校培育出來的學生，在國際試中都取得好成績。受聘的中國數學教師將於數月後前往英國履新，分派到三十所學校內授課，協助改善英國學童的數學表現。

　　他們將會向校內其他老師傳授教學方法、親自授課、為在職教師提供培訓，甚至會為一些學習有困難的學生單對單授課。一批為數相若的英國教師也會前往中國交流，學習英國政府所說的「世界級教育方式」。

　　特拉斯表示：「英國也擁有一些出色的數學教師，但我在上海和中國其他城市的所見所聞，令我更加相信，我們可以從他們身上學習。」

　　英國專家都認同特拉斯的看法，指英國有一半成年人的數學水平比一個普通的十一歲小孩還要差，因他們誤以為只有數學天才才精於數學。

More than that, they also need another group of private tutors like 600 to back it up.

I am just surprised that there are so many Math teachers with sufficient English abilities to teach. These are high school students so presumably, they are not doing simple Math. Imagine taking a trigonometry class from a mainland Chinese teacher with basic English

Agree, explaining maths is nontrivial. So 60 teachers, plus 600 tutors and 60 translators.

應該不是教師的問題，是課程和操練的問題。世上怎有不勞而獲的事呢？
