I am also planning my girl study in UK. She is also p6 now. However, the time for 13+ should be 2015 not 2016 unless your girl was born after 1sept. All the schools I contacted with does not accept downgrade for a year. For 13+, the student may need to sit for English, maths , science, some with RS as well. Either be the school own exam or common entrance. For those rank within 100, you need to apply now ( some already close the application as there are lots of applicant, eg st Mary's ascot). Some school might need you to fly over to UK for an assessment (stay a day at school), then give u conditional offer ( need to submit common entrance result later on). I suggest you to check the ranking, then email to the school. They will get back to you very quick. The next step will be practicing for the papers.

For top school like beneden, you need to apply four years ahead .

My suggestion (personal preference only):
2 top tier schools-
I would choose one from Wycombe Abbey, Cheltenham Ladies' College, and St Catherine's (Bramley) and then one from Beneden, Badminton, Downe House, St Swithun's and Headington.
2 average schools-
Any 2 of Tudor Hall, Harrogate Ladies' College, Sherbonne Girls', Queenswood and Woldingham.

Thks so much for the info above and u guys are so helpful!
I am really inexperienced and may get something wrong!
My girl was born late Nov 2002 and studying P6 now.
I wonder if she should go for 13+ in 2015 or 2016; indeed I am a bit confused with the advice from Lui! Can Lui kindly advise further?

Your daughter should enter Year 9(13+) in September 2016. If she was born before 1st September 2002, then she should enter Year 9 in September 2015.

My daughter was born on Dec 2000 and she is going to study year 9 in Sept 2014.

Oh I am bit released now as I am afraid I am not ready enough to do the application right now.
BTW are there any diff bet applying via agents or direct on my own?

My daughter was born after sept 2002. We applied one of the top tier schools and was told that she could apply year 7 for the coming 2014. Since my daughter is studying Y7 in an international school in hk, I requested if she could attempt Y8 for 2014. She finally took the year 8 exam. So I think normally the school will advise you to apply one year lower if your were born after sept, but you can still enquire the details from the school direct. If I remember correctly, WA doesn't allow us to attempt Y8 and st swithun's does allow, but they replied that they only send exam papers overseas for year 7 and 9 but not year 8, if we are interested , we need to fly to UK to take the entrance exam.

Can I know if UK boarding schools will accept underage applications as my daughter was born in late November 2002 and wonder if she could attend +13 year next year or have to wait till 2016?
